April 13 Schedule
Have you signed up for breakfast on April 13? Please do so if you plan to eat that morning. You should have also received an agenda for the day in an email from Mary Hoien.
I have heard the two speakers--Sam Stecher (former elementary principal in Kearney--now superintendent at East Butler) and Mark Johnson (elementary principal in Kearney).
They are both funny, engaging and entertaining (full disclosure--I've only heard them speak at 8pm at Administrator Days after the Hospitality Rooms have been going strong; they may be less entertaining at 10am on a school day!)
They are the co-authors of "It Happens in the Hallway; Impacting School Climate Beyond the Classroom". You can check them both out at MissionMonday.com or on twitter at @mission_monday.
I have included a video from Sam and Mark about their February 26, 2017 "mission." (Sam is the bald one!) I know some of you are already "leveling up!" I love to see what's happening in your classrooms!
Tweet of the Week
I would like your thoughts on the picture below. Could we makes something like this work at our school? We may not always have "success criteria" on every assignment, but I certainly can see something like this being taught in ALL of our classes--math, writing, music, art, PE.
It's not only a reminder to do your best work; it also give students the tools and ideas to answer the question, "Did I do everything I could to make this a success?"
I'd love any feedback that you can provide!
APL Tip of the Week
We practice at the beginning of class using Bellringers and we practice at the end of class using Checking for Understanding, Closure and by getting homework started.

Reminders....
- PTO meeting is Monday at 6:30. Anyone have ideas about how we can "jump start" our PTO and get more parents to become involved?
- WSC students will visit Grant on Tuesday, April 4. They will ask a few questions and observe.
- We will have an all-school assembly on April 11 at 2pm. It's called "Abra-Nebraska" and will utilize magic to highlight the "wild, weird, and wonderful history" of our state.
