Turtle Season

A message from Darcy Donald

Turtle activity is increasing with the warm and wet weather. Nesting activity will begin in earnest the last week of May into mid June.

Please alert your students and faculty to watch for turtles in the parking lots, under parked cars, and crossing roadways. If they encounter a turtle trapped by curbing, please ask them to gently lift the turtle over the barrier, always moving a turtle the direction it is heading.

If an injured turtle is found, please email grotonturtles@gmail.com immediately.

Art?...Travel?

A new travel opportunity is opening up for students who have a passion for art. Ms. Kostich will be leading a trip (pending school committee approval) to Paris, Rome and Florence in the Spring of 2020. Although this trip will focus on the amazing works of art in these destinations, you do not need to be an artist to participate. If you are interested, please see Ms. Kostich in the Art room.

Open Mic Write up...

by Taryn Emerle....

GDMHS hosted its third Open Mic Night of the school year, featuring almost 20 diverse acts. It brought out one of the largest crowds we’ve seen this year, which was great fundraising for our upcoming Disney trip. The creativity and talent displayed throughout the show made it unmissable, and we’d like to say a big thank you to all those who attended.

As junior Josh Booth said of Open Mic Night, “It’s a great place to try your hand at new songs and styles, because it’s such a positive environment.” Since the audience at Open Mic is notoriously very supportive and encouraging, it’s the perfect place to show your creativity.

GD’s music program is kicking it into full gear fundraising for the Disney Trip in May and the Spain Trip in 2020, with the recent Open Mic and chamber’s Fundraiser on March 30th. This event will feature performances from GD’s own Jazz Band, and a silent auction. Tickets are available at http://www.gdchamberchorus.org/ , so please come out and support our music program!
