St. Columba's Primary School
NEWSLETTER | TERM 1 | WEEK 6 | 10 MARCH 2022
Lord,
Let me wake up every morning and be
Thankful for the wonderful life you have given me.
Help me to see the good in things.
Guide me in the way that I get to show the world my gifts.
I thank you for my health, love, abilities, friends and family.
Today I am grateful
Amen
From the Principal
Dear Parents and Carers,
Please note that the Sacramental Enrolment Masses this weekend have been rescheduled to Term 2.
Once again the rules have changed regarding Covid Protocols in schools. At this stage, St Columba’s has remained basically free of Covid positive students and parents, unlike numerous schools which have had classes and many students in isolation.
The new protocols are now on the WA Health website. I will not go through them now, but as and when I need to, I will provide and send home relevant information. I would suggest you take time to log onto the WA Health website yourself and make yourself aware of the new protocols.
Please be aware that these protocols are continually changing and I expect them to continue to do so. We are expecting the Covid peak to be at the middle or end of next week. This may mean that there will be students and/or staff in isolation. There will be remote learning put in place for students who do have to isolate.
These Remote Learning Protocols have been sent home in an earlier newsletter. We have three classrooms on the borderline of needing air purifiers and these are on order through CEWA and I expect them shortly.
God Bless and keep safe.
Allen McMahon
Principal

*Children and young adults participate in designing, implementing and assessing programs.
*Children and young adults are aware there are policies and processes in place to support them.
*CEWA actively encourages schools to provide a variety of opportunities to raise their concerns and worries.
*Concerns and worries raised by children and young adults are taken seriously, and their needs and ideas are carefully considered.
*The safety of the child or young adult is the priority in decision making.
*Self-esteem and confidence of children and young adults is supported with training to foster self-assertiveness.
*Protective behaviours curriculum is taught and integrated.
Project Compassion 2022
Project Compassion has launched for 2022.
Students have looked at the work Caritas Australia has done throughout the world and the positive impact it has had on many lives. All students in PP-Y6 have been provided with a Project Compassion box and we ask that you generously donate this Lent.
The theme for this year is For Future Generations.
Check out the below real-world story of Project Compassion in action, highlighting how our generosity can assist others.

Happy Week 6 Everyone.
On behalf of the P&F committee, we hope that everyone is doing well during this unusual term. We understand that our weeks are full of uncertainty and potential confusion with multiple school events being rescheduled, postponed or even cancelled. For this we are truly sorry, and like many of you, disappointed. However, rest assured. the P&F committee are still in regular communication as I know you all probably are with your relevant year groups. Please reach out if you need any support or clarification during this time.
We have been busy putting our heads together for our fundraising goal for 2022 and how we plan to get there. So keep your ears and eyes open over the next few weeks as your class representatives will be touching base with you all.
Soon we will commence planning and looking forward to providing our wonderful school with events and fun activities as soon as we are given the green light. Hold tight!
Our next P&F meeting is scheduled for Tuesday 29th March at 7:00pm (zoom meeting). You are welcome to join us, so please reach out to myself or Renee if you intend on doing so. Once again, if you have any fundraising ideas, goals or general queries relating to the P&F please contact us or your class representative.
In the meantime, please keep safe and we hope to see you all soon. Thankyou for taking the time to stay updated with the P&F news.
