Happy Thanksgiving!!

Time is moving so quickly! I feel like yesterday was the first day of school, today is Thanksgiving, and tomorrow it will be Christmas.

Thanksgiving is a great time to reflect on all of the things for which we are grateful. As I sit and think about the many things that I am thankful for, at the very top of the list is YOU. I want to take this moment to share my gratitude for the wonderful students, staff and parents that are a part of the Fairlead Academy Family. We are a part of something wonderful here at Fairlead, and you make what we do meaningful and worthwhile.

As we begin the holiday season, please take some time this Thanksgiving to rest and spend quality time with the people that you love. Hug your family members a little longer, laugh a lot and eat a little too much. Enjoy each and every moment of your time together. And as we continue through this holiday season, I encourage you to take moments for gratitude. Remember despite all that we have gone through the past few years, this is our opportunity to reminisce on wonderful times of old, and to celebrate and create new and happy memories.

Be safe, be happy and be grateful. Happy Thanksgiving!

With Gratitude,

Dr. Johnson

Academic Dean

Impact Aid

Our schools are heavily impacted with federally-connected students – those parents/guardians who work on federal property in Maryland, live on federal property in Maryland, and/or are active duty military personnel. Because of this impact, we receive federal grant funds to operate and maintain our schools and enrich school programs. To receive these funds, the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) requires us to survey each student to determine eligibility.

SMCPS is encouraging all parents/guardians to please take the time to access and complete the Impact Aid Survey Form online, located in the Home Access Center (HAC). Once logged in, directions to access the online form can be found HERE. A video with instructions is available HERE. The form can now be accessed in Spanish by clicking on the Globe in the top right-hand corner once the form has been started. The deadline for the online submission of Impact Aid Program Survey forms is December 15, 2021.

Finally, you can also return a paper form to school via one of the following ways:

As a reminder: Students are asked to continue to bring their Laptops with them to school everyday along with any charging devices.

It is a good practice to make sure that laptops are plugged in and charged at night in order to be ready for school the next day.
