From Mrs. Rosenberger, RN

What’s “going around” at school right now? Flu season is in full swing and we are still seeing Covid-19 infections. How can you tell the difference? Only a lab test can tell for sure, but this link is helpful: https://www.cdc.gov/flu/symptoms/flu-vs-covid19.htm

Is your child eligible for a COVID -19 booster? Discuss options with your child’s healthcare provider. https://www.healthychildren.org/English/tips-tools/ask-the-pediatrician/Pages/when-can-children-get-the-COVID-19-vaccine.aspx

Ask your child’s healthcare provider if your child should get the flu vaccine. It is easily accessible through our county’s free flu clinics, primary care providers and pharmacies.

Children & the Flu Vaccine

  • Children are encouraged to see their pediatrician for vaccination.

  • Children without a pediatrician, under the age of 5, should attend the scheduled "preschool/daycare/family clinics".

  • Children ages 6 months to 18 years must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. If a legal guardian, please bring proper documentation.

  • Children under the age of 9 receiving flu immunizations for the first time need a second shot at least 4 weeks after the 1st.

  • Preschool children attending a licensed daycare facility must have received their mandatory flu immunization before December 31st to be allowed to attend daycare the following year.

School Breakfast Program

If students are ordering breakfast they should arrive at school by 8:05. Students need to be finished breakfast when homeroom starts at 8:20. Eating breakfast can improve school performance. Research shows that increase School Breakfast Program participation is associated with better academic test scores, daily attendance, and class participation. The School Breakfast Program also has been linked to reductions in student absences and tardiness. Breakfast is $2.00 and Reduced/Free lunch is $0.00.
