  • Our parent members and volunteers

  • Our sponsors

And, most especially, we are thankful for our curious and energetic students who make every day a great day to be a Clipper!

ALL HANDS ON DECK

IMMEDIATE HELP NEEDED: Tuesday Staff Appreciation Lunch

We are still in need of a few toppings, desserts, and cash donations for our upcoming staff appreciation lunch coming up this Tuesday, November 20th.

Please check out the sign up here to see if you can send in an item or two. While our kids have an early release day, teachers and staff are busy with professional development meetings and unable to leave campus for lunch or a quick treat. We appreciate your help and the staff appreciates the good food to fuel their professional development after our little ones leave.

* NOTE: Donated items should be sent in disposable containers since the school will be closed for the holiday break and you will be unable to retrieve your containers.

Calling All Handy-Men and Women

The PTA would like to take on a Beautification Project to spruce up the cottages and their area of campus. We need one or two folks to spearhead the effort. This would include taking a look at the existing decks, ramps, and handrails to estimate repairs or if any places need replacing. We would also want a proposed plan for any needed paint/stain and other beautification efforts (Window boxes? Pots? Art work? Power washing? Sidewalk signage? You name it - we would love some new ideas!).

This would be a great way to get some dads involved ready to show off their skills! We have a grant writer happy to work with you to try and secure funds and supplies from some of the big box hardware stores and plenty of PTA parents ready to assist with getting the work done. In other words, if you haven't volunteered with the PTA before, you'd have lots of support.

If you are interested, please reach out to Mandy Wagstaff at oce.pta@gmail.com for more information.

Grandparents Breakfast

We are looking for a parent coordinator for the Tracks 2 & 4 Grandparents Breakfast taking place on March 28th. If you are interested in helping with this fun and easy position, please email oce.pta@gmail.com for more information.

TREASURE CHEST

Box Tops Update

The first national collection for Box Tops has been submitted. We will receive our first check for the 18-19 school year in December.

Box Tops committee chair Jennifer Bryant would like to give a huge thank you to all the OCE families that sent in Box Tops - it was one of the largest collection drives in recent years. So far this year, OCE has already raised more than $1,600 with the Box Tops program!

A BIG congrats also goes to the class with the most Box Tops submitted leading up to the national deadline: Mrs. Bechard's 2nd grade, track 3 class! Her class is the winner of the $50 gift card.

Box Tops can continue to be submitted through class teachers and the mail boxes at the front of the school. Be sure to paste them to a collection sheet (downloadable online or pick one up in the lobby Box Tops mailbox) or seal them in a plastic baggie. Don't forget to include your teacher's name on your Box Tops submission and maybe your class will be the next big winner!

Keep clipping, Clippers!

Tis the Season to Shop!

Before you make your big Turkey Day grocery run or start filling your Amazon cart with this year's must-have gifts on Cyber Monday, don't forget to link and use your shoppers' rewards to benefit OCE.

It's easy! There is a complete list HERE on our OCE PTA webpage complete with all you need to know to link OCE to your loyalty cards.

A few items of note: ALL purchases made at Publix are eligible - there are NO restrictions! So your turkey and all the trimmings and your football snacks and that special birthday cake you ordered - it all counts! And don't forget to make your Amazon purchases through Amazon Smile - gifts, books, that monthly order of paper towels, whatever you go to Amazon for, OCE benefits from it all!

Loyalty programs that benefit OCE include:

  • Harris Teeter
  • Lowe's Foods
  • Publix
  • Office Max and Office Depot
  • AMAZON SMILE

So get out there and shop til you drop, Clippers!

Art By Me Reminder

Order Art By Me as presents for your holiday shopping list and you will actually be giving two gifts - one to your friends and family and one to our art program! And who can resist that adorable art made by our creative students?

Orders were due for Track 2 on November 3rd (you can still make online orders, they just might not arrive at the same time).

Orders are due for Tracks 1, 3 and 4 on November 21st.

Spirit Night: Save the Date

Our next Spirit Night is coming up! So mark your calendars and join us for a fun evening with your OCE family. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to OCE.

Where: Glory Days Grill, 1413 Kelly Road (in the Publix Pointe Shopping Center)

When: Wednesday, December 5th

Why: Good food, friends, no dishes to clean up, and it's a fundraiser for your school? That's a win-win-win-win!

CREW NEWS

Chorus Holiday Schedule Update

There will be NO chorus rehearsals the week of November 19th due to the Thanksgiving holiday. Rehearsals will resume on November 28th.

Family Marathon Makes it to the Finish Line!

Coach Roberts would like to extend a warm thank you to all volunteers, PTA, teachers, parents, and students who made this year's Family Marathon successful. She would like to especially thank parent volunteers Sara Mogensen and Jen Curtis-Maury, as well as the Apex Police and Fire Departments, Wool E. Bull, the Apex Friendship football team, and Coach Sanders.

Even the rain could not keep us from finishing our last stretch of the 26.2 miles in the hallways and gym. Our students did a great job of setting a goal and practicing with their family to stay fit and healthy!

STEM Night

OCE will be hosting its first STEM night on November 29!

STEM night will provide a unique opportunity for our students and community to explore the world of STEM by tinkering, experimenting, asking questions, and much more!

N.C. State STEM and R.T.N.N. students will be here performing hands-on activities with all families. Green Hope High and Apex High Robotics Teams will showcase their competitive robots. And we have a number of additional presenters from our community participating, eager to make this experience meaningful and exciting for all families.

The event will run from 6:00- 8:00 p.m. at the school. This is a night you won't want to miss.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: If you can help with set-up and/or clean-up, please sign-up here. Kids are welcome to join you to help as well!

Fitness Photo Fun!

During the next several weeks we will practice Physical Fitness and its components

(cardio, strength, muscle endurance and flexibility) in PE and learn all about why it is so

important to stay physically fit.

Please send in a favorite photo of your student being physically active. They can bring it with them to PE class. We will place them on the PE bulletin board to see what the students at OCE are doing to stay fit.

Thank you! ~ Coach Roberts

Crayola Color Cycle Program

Send in those used markers for recycling before November 30th! A box for collection is located just inside the lobby (under the Box Tops mailbox).

The Crayola ColorCycle program repurposes used markers rather than sending them to landfills.

Students and teachers all around OCE will be collecting used markers that are ready to be discarded. Please help support our efforts by sending in any used markers you may have around the house -- even non-Crayola brands! Highlighters and dry erase markers can also be included.
