Newsletter Week 7 Term 3
Shelly Park School - Wednesday 7th of September 2022
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Parents and Whānau
It has been another busy few weeks of extra curricular activities for our students. Below you will find a report for our very successful girls football team and our gymnastics team.
A reminder that in Week 10, 26th - 30th of September, we have quite a disruptive week. On Tuesday 27th we will be having a Teacher Only Day. On Wednesday and Thursday we will be holding our Student Led Conferences and then Friday is the last day of term. I will shortly be sending out the details on how you can sign up for a student led conference.
Girls Football
On Tuesday, the 23rd and Tuesday the 30th of August, the SPS Girls Football Team competed in the local HPPA Tournament.
After the first day the girls won 3 games and lost 1. This meant that out of 15 teams we qualified to play off for the top 5 positions the following Tuesday.
The girls continued their great play and ended the second day winning 3 games and drawing 1. The girls ended up finishing 1st equal on points but officially finished second due to Mellons Bay having a better goal difference.
We are very proud of the girls. A special thank you to Sophie White for training and coaching the girls, Peter Cunningham for coaching the girls on the last day, as Sophie was away, and Lisa Woodman for managing the team.
Gymnastics
Last week, students in Years 3 - 6 competed in the HPPA Gymnastics competition. Shelly Park sent a big team of athletes to the event and our students represented our school with pride. The boys competed in 3 different disciplines - vault, floor and bar while the girls competed in floor, beam and vault. The students had a very successful day.
