Timberwolf Update
News & Updates from Tukes Valley Middle School
What's Happening at TVM?
- The Tukes Valley PTO is currently running the annual Payback Book fundraiser. We are hoping each student can sell at least one book. Each student received one book to take home. Payback Books are due back September 20th. Orders will be filled and sent home the following week.
- Most students have now been issued a Chromebook for the year. Please note that students will not receive a Chromebook until all paperwork and assurance fees are submitted in the office. We have ordered Chromebooks for all students who are new to the district, but have not yet received them. As soon as we do they will be issued to students.
- Our September theme is "Commitment." Students have been setting goals in their advisory classes. Please talk with your student about what they are committing to this year!
- All grade levels have started diagnostic testing using the iReady assessment for reading and mathematics. This assessment gives us a clear picture of each student's current skills. This information allows us to tailor our instruction for whole group, small groups, and individual students. You can ask for a score report later this month when all students have finished testing - just have your student request one from his/her teacher.
- All students have reviewed school expectations. You can refer to this link for as a quick reference for student expectations at TVM.
How can I support my child's success in class?
- Remind.com - many teachers use this text message service to update students and parents on a regular basis.
- Many of our teachers have websites that you will find helpful. These are linked through the Staff page on the TVM website.
- Google Classroom is a service that most of our teachers use with students. Parents can access the classroom through a special parent log-in or ask their student to show them their Google Classroom account.
- Skyward is where all of our student's grades are maintained. All parents have a unique log-in that allows them to access all of their students in Battle Ground Public Schools. Please contact our office for assistance. There is also a mobile app that can be configured to send alerts and progress reports.

Attendance Matters!
Regular attendance is crucial to student success. Students must be here to learn. Regular Attendance means the student is at school at least 95% of the time, less than 9 absences.
We understand that absences happen because students are ill, and we also know that sometimes it’s a choice. To support students who are at risk of chronic absenteeism (10-17 absences in a year) we have three staff members who dedicate a portion of their day to connecting with kids. At TVM we believe in your students and their ability to be successful. If there is anything we can do to support you and your student please reach out to the TVM office. Thank you
Need a Bus Note?
Is your child planning to ride a different bus home with a friend? Please take note of our bus note policy.
Per Cascade Transportation, there must be an address, bus number, and name of the friend they are riding home with on the bus note. Please help us by making sure all of these are included when you write the note. Bus notes must be brought to the office no late than noon. Students will not be allowed to make after school arrangements during school hours, so having your plans made before school is appreciated. Please note, if a bus is full, extra students may not be allowed on the bus.
Thank you!
