a note from your principal
We have now completed our first week of being back on the staggered schedule. Thank you for your patience and support as we shift gears once again this school year. Please know that our teachers and I all desire for our students to be in school every day. That is how we know students learn best. The greatest obstacle our district is facing is a substitute teacher shortage. With growing numbers of faculty and staff having to be out due to COVID and other reasons, we have not been able to fill all of the vacancies.
I hear the news, just like you. I hear Governor Ivey and Dr. Fauci say children need to be in school. I completely agree. I also feel that we are doing a great job of avoiding being a source of spreading COVID. I truly believe our children are as safe as humanly possible at school. That is not our issue. As mentioned above, we must have the staff to teach and supervise the children. We have to follow the Alabama Department of Health Toolkit regarding quarantines, so we have no choice but to send students and teachers home when deemed a close contact or when testing positive.
Our teachers are doing a great job, given the very challenging circumstances. They are working hard to keep learning moving forward, even on the virtual days. I challenge you to remember these things and to know we are doing all we can to educate your children. We can get through this together and I trust you will reflect this positive vibe in our community, too.
Thanks for your continued support,
Dr. Stocks
learning options change for 3rd nine weeks
If you are wanting your child to change from virtual to in-person OR in-person to virtual, please complete the form as soon as possible, and only ONCE. You will need to be logged in to your child's account when you do this. This form will close on December 11th and there will not be another chance to change until 4th nine weeks.
We will verify your request before we get out for winter break.
Please know that we will begin 3rd nine weeks on a staggered schedule, but the plan is to return to 5 days instruction on January 19th. You need to base your decision on the fact that we will be back in school 5 days which means students will not be 6 feet apart.
congratulations to our spelling bee winner, Emilie T., and runner-up, Jay J.
Congratulations to our students who demonstrated gratitude during the month of November
