Student Safety, the Parking Lot and Parking on Truedell Road

Important Safety Reminders:

-Signage in front of the school outlines areas where cars may not park during certain times of the day.

-Please do not park in or in front of our neighbours' driveways.

-Drivers must be mindful of students crossing the road. Please SLOW DOWN so we can ensure our students safety.

-We ask that cars, students and parents not enter the parking lot during the times posted on the sign to allow the buses to drop off and pick up students' safely.

-Parents and students are reminded not to cross through the parking lot. There are walkways on either side of the parking lot that should be used instead.

Thank you for your help in keeping everyone safe!

Beach Day - Friday, March 10th

Beach Day is happening at Truedell on Friday, March 10th. Students are invited to dress in their beach wear and participate in some fun gym activities led by our intermediate student leaders. No bathing suits, please! Students should also wear warm clothing over top of their beachwear since they will be going outside for recess.

Parent Council

The next Parent Council meeting is on Monday, March 20th, in the Resource Centre. Please contact the school by Thursday, March 9th if you need childcare or if you would like to join the meeting virtually.

MacMillans Fundraising Order

Parent Council is running a MacMillan's fundraiser. Please support this Parent Council fundraiser by placing an order. The flyers went home last Friday, and the fundraiser will run until Friday, March 24th. Please return your order forms to your child's teacher.

Delivery of orders will be on May 1st or 2nd. All orders must be picked up on this date as they are frozen products that cannot be stored at the school.

Let's work together to make this fundraiser a success!

A French Update from Mme Vines

During French class, students in grades 3 and above participate in Manie Musicale. This is an annual competition (un concours) which promotes French singers (chanteurs) from around the world (le monde). Students listen to, learn about and give their opinions on 16 songs. Over 40 countries and 400,000 students are taking part in this event. The goal (le buts) of the Truedell students is to choose (de choisir) the song that wins in the international vote (completed on April 1st, le 1 avril). Ask your student about what songs they like! More information on all the songs and singers can be found in Minds Online, under French content.

Attention Grade 7 & 8 Students

Bayridge is happy to announce the beginning of what will hopefully become an annual event: the Junior Blazers volleyball program!

This 8-week clinic/house league targets grade 7 and 8 students, and is designed to help improve their volleyball skills, while meeting new people, playing games, and having a blast.

In our inaugural year of 2023, we will be capping the number of participants at 32, with the intention of creating four teams of 8. Each team will be coached by senior student-athletes from Bayridge SS, who are all totally pumped to be part of this amazing program!

Our sessions will occur in the Bayridge Secondary School gym on Wednesday evenings from 5:30 to 7:00 starting on March 29th until May 17th, 2023.

The cost is only $20, and participants will receive a T-shirt and water bottle! Please note that BSS is willing to sponsor any students for whom the cost might be a barrier.

Parents/guardians can register participants at bit.ly/bssvball.
