Message from the Principal
Dear Whittier Parents/Guardians,
During this school year, we are focused on enhancing small guided group instruction and building student independence during application time. This means teachers intentionally meet with a small group of 3-4 students, 4-5 days out of the week, and instruct your student exactly where they are academically. This will support your student in staying engaged and learning to reach grade level proficiency.
During application time students are working on material and content at their independent level; meaning things they should be able to do on their own as they build accountability to their own learning.
Below is our visual to support our efforts this year. I welcome you to ask your students teacher about our approach and focus on student achievement.
As always, have a wonderful weekend! Remind your student to read, read, read!
PARKING
- Please be respectful to school and parking signs outside. We really need to make sure ALL our students get home safely.
- If you are picking up your student, please park and walk to get them from their line up. All K-2 student will give their teachers a high five, to ensure they have seen the adult picking them up.
- When it is raining and eventually snowing, the same expectations will be enforced.
- DO NOT STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET AND CALL YOUR STUDENT TO CROSS THE ROAD. We want to prevent any accidents that will cause injury to any of our students.
