Bobcat Connection

Learning. Growing. Collaborating & Achieving @KrumHighSchool

May 1, 2021

Dear Bobcat Families:

Happy Saturday! It is hard to believe that May is already here. The warmer spring temperatures are certainly welcome. As we reflect on the past 14 months, we have come a long way since COVID shut down our country. When we returned in August, everyone had a lot of questions of the best way to serve our students and staff. This year has challenged all stakeholders to be flexible beyond imagination. We have learned so much along the way and we appreciate your support through the process. Krum ISD sent a survey this week seeking your input on how to improve. We appreciate everyone who has already completed the survey. There are several outstanding suggestions that have already been submitted and we will take these into consideration. We realize everyone's time is a valuable commodity. If you have a few minutes, we would like to collect your thoughts. Here is the link to the survey: https://forms.gle/tGRmojdjCy2416i4A.

This week is one of my favorite weeks of the year - Teacher Appreciation Week! As the daughter of a retired teacher, and granddaughter of a bus driver and cafeteria worker, I have had an inside view to the love, dedication, and hard work our educators contribute on behalf of students. This year has been especially difficulty as our teachers have had to balance instruction for both remote and in-person learners. The way they have done this gracefully throughout the year is very commendable. Our administrative team invites you to join us in showing appreciation for our faculty and staff.

As we celebrate all faculty and staff, we are pleased to announce our 2021 Teacher of the Year, Ms. Mary Lynn Ford. Ms. Ford teaches Advanced Biology, Advanced Chemistry, AP Chemistry and Test Prep. In addition, Ms. Ford serves as the Science Department Chair. Congratulations, Ms. Ford!

Seniors and senior parents: Included in this email are important dates for you. We have changed the format of our Academic Awards ceremony and Senior Night. This will be an in person event on Monday, May 24th at 6:00 pm. If you have not yet returned your graduation contract, please make sure you take care of that.

In addition, we invite you to join us on Thursday, May 27th at Denton Bible Church to celebrate the Class of 2021. Next Sunday we will celebrate all Mom's, Grandmothers, Aunts, and others who may serve in that highest regarded role of a Mother. We remember all of our Bobcat Mothers - they encourage us, nurture us, push us, and fight for us - they were our first teachers. Happy Mother's Day!

Congratulations to our Lady Cats on their sweep of the Bi-District Championship. We wish them the best of luck as they play Iowa Park at Bowie High School. Moreover, we wish all of our students that are taking an EOC or AP test this week the best of luck.

Go Bobcats!

Estimadas familias de Bobcat:

¡Feliz sabado!

Van los linces!

BOBCATS REGIONAL TRACK MEET RESULTS

Jake Ellingwood, Aaron Vega, Jake Cook, Cooper Hill, Jackson Endicott, and Zach Paul had their first regional track experience and have set the standard moving forward. The boys of Krum 2021 Track and Field season ended in Lubbock Friday. The results are not what we wanted for senior and Area champ Jake Ellingwood. His final throw reached a distance of 45 feet 2 and 3/4 inches missing out on the finals and finishing 11th. The rest of the boys were left with a desire to return next season and improve on their marks. Running the 300 hurdles Aaron Vega crossed the line with a time of 44.41 finishing 6th in his heat. The 4x400 relay team consisting of Jake Cook, Aaron Vega, Jackson Endicott and Zach Paul finished with a time of 3:38.22 placing 13th. Our boys competed well and made Krum proud. Thank you all for supporting us this season.

LADY CATS REGIONAL TRACK MEET RESULTS

The Lady Cat Track team traveled to Lubbock, Texas, to participate in the Region 1 Track and Field Championship. Payton Lucas finished 5th in the High Jump, and Maggie Neal finished 4th in the 400m. Maggie Neal broke the school record in the 800m running a time of 2 minutes and 24 seconds, and the 4 x 200m relay team of Darby Bragg, Erykah Thompson, Kaylin Donnelly, and Jacey Oster broke the school record by clocking a time of 1 minute and 50 seconds. Thank you to all the athletes for your dedication to the track program at KHS.
