Assuring Learning Excellence and Readiness for a Changing World
Distance Learning 2.0
I think we all knew it was coming, but that didn't make it any easier to hear that we will not be coming back to school this school year. I know this is hard, for you and for our kids. I learned a new phrase, "ambiguous grief" to describe the feelings many may have in regard to this school year. I miss you, and all of our Scarlets!
May 1st and May 4th will be teacher work days, time given to tweak, change, improve your plans as needed. Based on the feedback I received from students and parents, here are a few ideas to consider if you are not already doing these:
Provide a weekly plan with a suggested pacing guide.
Offer a google meets for each class once a week.
Focus on the essentials, cut down on busy work
Call to check in on students
Mark assignments missing, but remove the missing when assignment is turned in
The majority of the comments on the surveys were positive, thanking teachers for all they are doing to provide quality education to students in a new way.
We have a DLT meeting on Wednesday, and after that meeting I will have more information to share with you in regard to the remainder of the school year.

Congratulations! You are doing amazing work with our students!
Message from our EL Teachers
The EL department wanted to let you know that our Muslim students will be celebrating Ramadan starting April 23 and continuing for about a month. Students celebrating this holiday in the most traditional sense will be fasting, including abstaining from drinking water, from sunup to sundown. Also, students observing this holiday may increase their consistency of prayer during the school day.
