Lutherville Lab Report
What's gone down & what's coming up at the leopards' lair.
September 2nd, 2022
We had an incredible first week at Lutherville Lab!
Your children have done a wonderful job of getting settled in, making new friends, and getting back in to learning routines! We are grateful to our community for entrusting us with such wonderful children.
The staff at Lutherville has been working hard to make every child feel welcome and connected as we begin this new year. If your child is experiencing challenges, please do reach out to their teacher so that we can support early. =)
Our Health Suite is in need donations of clothing -- specifically shorts and sweatpants in various children's sizes. If you have clothing to donate, please send it in with your child labeled for the health suite.
We have some exciting events coming up this month with Baskin Robbins night, Back to School Night, and Food Truck Night this month. We look forward to connecting with our School Family at these events!
Have a fantastic long weekend, Leopard families -- calendar reminder that we are closed Monday for Labor Day. Lunch menu's for the coming weeks can be found here.

Room Parents Wanted!
Room parents coordinate parental involvement for class events and activities throughout the year. They also work in partnership to disseminate information among classroom parents. This year, we are fortunate to have Mrs. Christie Miller organizing and supporting room parents in partnership with the PTA.
If you would like to become a room parent, please let your child's homeroom teacher know that you are interested.
Arrival and Dismissal Reminders
Car-Riders
This year we have many more families who have opted to be car riders than last year. Consequently, our car-rider line is extending into York Road for longer periods of time. This is dangerous and something we want to limit. Families can help in the following ways:
-If you are open to your child riding a bus, that is a great option. If you are still experiencing issues with transportation and getting bus information, please continue to check-in with Mrs. Hart. We have made great strides for families this week and want to do everything within our power to ensure every student wanting a bus is able to ride.
-In the morning, our arrival line dips significantly between 9:10-9:20. Students are not late to school as long as they arrive by 9:20. If you have the flexibility, please consider dropping off between 9:10-9:20.
-In the afternoon, we similarly have an initial glut at the beginning of pickup at 4:05. Parents registered for hangtags, please be sure to have that displayed to help us get your child ready to come to your car. If your child is not proficient with buckling themselves in the car seat, please consider parking in the lot and walking through the crosswalk to pickup and then help them buckle into the parked car, allowing the line to continue to flow.

School Meals Information
During the pandemic, the USDA made it possible for school nutrition programs to serve all students free breakfast and lunch through “waivers.” Congress did not extend these waivers for the upcoming school year, so meals are no longer available free of charge to all students across the country. Lutherville is designated as a school qualifying for the National School Lunch Program (NSLP)and School Breakfast Program (SBP). These are the “standard” meal programs for schools that do not qualify for additional support. The cost of meals this year is $1.40 for breakfast and $2.90 for lunch.
To put funds on your child’s account to purchase meals, visit www.MySchoolBucks.com. You can also add funds through this site for snacks. Don’t worry about lost lunch money ever again!
Families may be eligible for assistance to reduce the cost of meals, but must complete an online Free and Reduced Meal Application, to determine eligibility. To apply for assistance with the cost of school meals, please complete the Household Meal Benefit Application (HMBA) by visiting www.myschoolapps.com. If applicable, please complete your meal application as soon as possible to expedite process. The information you supply is confidential, and applications will be processed upon receipt.
If you need help finding your child's student ID for their account, this can be found on the Parent Portal. Please see the screen shot below.
