Dear Grade 10 students and families,
Grade 10 students will take the Math MCAS next week (Tuesday, May 16, and Wednesday, May 17). Below are a few reminders for testing:
- Later this week, students should check the room lists posted outside Guidance, in the Math wing, or in the morning announcements for their room location.
- Students should arrive at their testing location by 8:30 each morning with their fully charged Watertown Public Schools Chromebook and a book to read once testing is complete.
- Students are encouraged to bring a calculator for day 2 of testing. (Calculators are available within the testing platform, and extra handheld calculators will be available.)
- Students should report any issues with their Chromebook (not charging, missing keys, not accessing the internet, etc.) to the library as soon as possible.
- Students will be asked to turn in their phones and smartwatches during testing.
Please note that while Wednesday, May 17, is a district-wide half day, any student who has not completed testing by dismissal (12:30 PM) may continue testing until the end of a typical school day (3:05 PM).
As a reminder, students must earn a 472 or higher on the ELA test, a 486 or higher on the Math test, pass the Science MCAS, and meet all WHS graduation requirements to earn their diploma. Students in the 10th grade who do not earn a passing score will have four additional opportunities to take the test (Fall 2023, Spring 2024, Fall 2024, and Spring 2025). This test administration may also qualify students for the Stanley Z. Koplik Certificate of Mastery and/or the John and Abigail Adams Scholarship. For information about these awards, please visit https://www.doe.mass.edu/scholarships/mastery/Koplik-Adams-compare.html.
We are confident that students are well-prepared for this upcoming administration. Should you have questions about the test content, please contact Mr. Daniel Wulf, 8-12 Math curriculum coordinator. If you have questions about the test administration, please contact your student’s school counselor.
Remember, take your time and do your best, students!
Mr. Joel Giacobozzi, Principal
Ms. Adrienne Eaton, Lead School Counselor
