Volunteer meetings

Meetings for Direct Service Volunteers will be 10-11:30 AM. Everybody (DSA, VPE's, SPV's) will meet from 11:30-12:30. VPE's meet from 12:30-2:00 and SPV's from 12:30-1:15. Location will be the Art Lab, Rm 201 Appleby Hall.

Minnesota Coalition for the Homeless

The Minnesota Coalition for the Homeless two day annual conference brings together a range of experts to present on a variety of issues, from hoarding disorder to domestic violence, Safe Harbor to legislative advocacy. Workshops will provide practical tools, best practices, and a chance to network with 400 colleagues and community members from across the state.

This is a unique opportunity to learn and share insights with a broad community. The conference is attended by social workers, case managers, nonprofit managers, state and county officials, advocates, researchers, and people who have experienced homelessness.

Conference attendees will be able to receive Continuing Education hours and Ethics Training for social workers.

Join the Minnesota Department of Health for the third annual data symposium on translating research to policy and practice. This year’s topic of focus is pornography.

Kids are being exposed to increasingly violent and oppressive pornography at younger ages, at greater frequency, and with greater ease of access through phones, the internet, and other technology. Sexual Assault Response Teams (SARTs) 101 Webinar

This is an online event.

This webinar will focus on Sexual Assault Response Teams (SARTs) in rural areas. We will explore how multidisciplinary collaborations, such as SART teams, can be an effective strategy to improve the criminal justice response and what victims experience. Learn more about the general concepts and goals of SART teams as well as insights and ideas on how to begin, develop and grow effective SART teams. This is a unique opportunity to hear from field leaders Marsha Kisner and Samuel Wilmoth from the West Virginia Foundation for Rape Information and Services. Join us for this informative conversation that will also include time for your community specific questions.

A free, one-hour behind the scenes look at DAP Advocacy. Held at the Public Safety Facility in Minneapolis, you will hear from a law enforcement officer, a prosecutor and DAP advocates how the legal system and domestic abuse victims intersect. You will visit a domestic abuse courtroom and learn how DAP advocates partner with women to help them navigate a complicated system

Equity and Diversity Certification

The Office for Equity and Diversity is hosting various workshops throughout the month of August! The Equity and Diversity Certificate helps participants develop tools necessary for advancing equity and diversity in all aspects of their personal and professional lives. It’s free of charge and only open to students, faculty and staff on all campuses of the University of Minnesota. Workshops 1 - 10 below count toward the Equity and Diversity Certificate and will be offered every semester as well as during the summer on the Twin Cities campus.
