  • Monday, February 27, 6:00-7:00 pm @ Mt Vernon library & classroom (English & Spanish)-childcare provided this session only

We're Hiring!

Do you like children or do you know someone who likes working with children? We are looking for a few part time (3 hours to 6.5 hours per day) educational assistants to join our Mt Vernon team! Experience is great, but we will train.

Typical work day may include:

  • Teaching small groups of students (reading or math) under the supervision/guidance of a licensed teacher
  • General supervision during lunch, recess, hallway transitions, assemblies, etc.
  • Supporting students in their classes with a variety of tasks
  • Supporting teachers/office with clerical tasks
  • Assisting during arrival or departure

If you have interest or know someone who has interest, feel free to contact our school office and let us know.

Be ready when bad weather hits!

The weather is changing! That means it is time to check to make sure SPS has your correct contact information in case we have to let you know about a school delay or closure due to wintry weather.

ParentVue is our online system that allows all families, new and returning, to access and update their family and student information, including contact numbers, email addresses, annual health changes and so much more!

The correct contact information ensures that families and students are receiving all of the important information and notifications shared by their school, teachers and the district.

To find out about our procedures for coping with bad weather, check out this link.

Too Sick For School?

When To Stay Home

Obviously being in school is important for all students, but there are times when your child should stay home in order to minimize the spread of communicable health conditions.

Please review the guidance linked here (English) (Spanish)

Child Immunizations Due By February 15

Is your child current on their immunizations? If not, by State Law they will be excluded from school beginning February 15, 2023.

See the attached flyers for information regarding local immunization clinics.

Join Our PTA!

What is the PTA?

It's never too late to join! We have meetings once a month (attendance not required to join, and membership is not required to attend the meetings).
