Instructional Focus "IF Time"
At McAllister, we have a time during our school day called Instructional Focus—better known as “IF Time.” This is a portion of our day when we get to concentrate on students’ individual learning goals. This year, throughout the school, teachers are collaborating to best serve all of our students. Students are working in small groups with teachers from their grade level along with other faculty members.
Currently, our school-wide focus is math—specifically Number and Operations, which is one of the biggest building blocks for future success in math. IF Time teachers are tailoring the curriculum for their small group in ways that will reinforce, develop, and deepen all of our students’ number sense.
We are very excited about IF Time and are confident that our students will benefit greatly from this experience. As always, thank you for the opportunity to teach your children each and every day!
Mandatory Volunteer Training
Parents,
We know many of you are anxious to begin volunteering after the Labor Day holiday and we are just as anxious to have your help. This year, it is required that all volunteers attend a volunteer training at the school as well as complete the necessary online components. In order to try to meet the needs of everyone’s schedule, we will offer two different trainings next week at McAllister Elementary. Both trainings will be held in our cafeteria. You will enter and exit through the cafeteria doors. The first will be held on Tuesday, August 29th from 6:00pm-6:45pm and the second will be held on Thursday, August 31st from 8:00am-8:45am. It is essential that you attend one of the trainings if you wish to volunteer inside of the school at any time during the year. We will hold another training around November for anyone that was unable to attend the first two and for all of our parents that are new to McAllister.
Please feel free to e-mail Heather Tucker, htucker@bryan.k12.ga.us, if you have any questions regarding the volunteer process.

Watch DOGS - Stay connected by texting @mesdogs to 81010
WATCH D.O.G.S.® is the father involvement initiative of the National Center For Fathering. Inspired by one father’s desire to increase male involvement in his children’s school and with the help of the schools teachers and administration, WATCH D.O.G.S. was created in 1998 at George Elementary in Springdale, AR. Since then, the program has spread to more than 5,700 schools in over 47 states and other countries abroad.
Each school year thousands of men volunteer to work at least one day in their child’s school through the WATCH D.O.G.S.® program. These men work alongside the educators to help as crossing guards, car/bus rider facilitators, hallway monitors, library assistants, lunchroom helpers, classroom and homework tutors and playground/gymnasium coaches. The possibilities are endless. Every school year these men have a positive impact on the lives of hundreds of thousands of kids.
