Tech Tips from the Vanguard Team
If you haven’t discovered the Classroom Dojo Toolkit, then get prepared to be wowed! There are so many tools that can be used in many different ways:
Just a few classroom uses:
1.. Group Maker to keep students separated that have issues. It is set by you and can be changed and updated easily.
2. Today-to help clearly show on projection screen: day with date, AM assignment, brain building, helpers of the day, and any special instruction. Today also keeps a record to help remind you of past helpers, assignments, etc.
3. Timer for large quick display to encourage quick transitions
4. Music-Focus and Active. Focus for writing/reading, active-play games and movement. When music stops book boxes are up and students in seat, etc.
5. Attendance-Can be done by students if you like.
Don’t forget the character building & growth mindset resources available through “Big Ideas” on the toolbar:
This is a great way to start your day!
Flu information from our 5th Grade TAG Students
The 5th grade TAG students are conducting a public outreach about the flu. They would like you to know:
- January and February are the peak time for the flu.
- The flu is currently widespread in Georgia.
- To track flu activity across the United States, go to https://www.cdc.gov/flu/weekly/usmap.htm
- To prevent spreading the flu:
- Wash hands frequently. (Washing is better than using hand sanitizer.)
- Don’t cough or sneeze into your hands.
- If you’re sick, stay home.
January is Gifted Education Month in Georgia

Core Team next Week
During planning next Wednesday 1/30), we will meet in the front conference room to review Tier 2 students’ progress.
To prepare:
-Please send me a list of current tier 2 students in the order in which you’d like to review their progress by Friday 1/25.
- make sure tiered students are up to date with progress monitoring
-Look at the data so you are able to speak to %iles, expected progress or not-
-be familiar with which interventions students are getting and be open to new ideas & sharing with others.
For each student we will project the progress monitoring, review the intervention and goals as we decide next steps- stay in tier 2 as is, change intervention, move to tier one, or move to tier 3.
* if students are on a behavior tier, please bring the intervention and behavior data from that intervention.
Please let me know if you have questions or concerns.
Thanks!
Christina McLeod
