I AM. YOU ARE. WE ARE. BULLDOGS!
Miss Esposito's Kindergarten Class Our kindergarten readers celebrated their learning and application of Reading Super Powers today. If you have a kindergarten reader, be sure to have them show you how they use these strategies when reading. | Mrs. Hower's 1st Grade Class A student rehearses her writing with Mrs. Hower using the framework: First, Next, Then, So, Finally. Rehearsing stories across our fingers helps writers with planning. This same structure can be used when students retell a story they've read. | Mrs. Jackson (PE) - Cupstacking Students designed structures with cups and then created a story to tell about their creations. |

News from Mrs. Mankin
Dear Bulldog Families,
It has been a week full of connections! We have made connections with classmates through community circle time as well as collaborative learning opportunities throughout the day. We have connected with experts within our building like Mrs. Gibson our Teacher Development Specialist, other teachers, our Teacher Librarian (Mrs. Williams), and outside experts both in class and for extracurricular clubs (Travel Club) via Zoom. Making connections and sharing our learning is an important part of the learning process.
As we continue with parent-teacher conferences, we hope that you are strengthening your connection with your child's teacher and learning about next steps in the learning process; thank you for having these important conversations with us! We appreciate the time you spend reinforcing the concepts that we are teaching at school and look forward to continuing a supportive partnership as we continue our work this 9 weeks. We would like to thank our families for "stocking the fridge" this week during conferences. Our teaching team appreciates snacks and drinks during this busy time - THANK YOU!
Sincerely,
Lori Mankin
Mrs. Poe's 3rd Grade Class These learners looked for patterns in words. As they were sorting words, they found "oddball" words. You guessed it - "oddball" words do not follow any of the patterns! | Mrs. Clark's 4th Grade Class Mathematicians collaborated about fractions. When we have questions, we can learn with and from each other. Students then applied their learning to a word problem. #StrongerTogether | Mrs. Gibson with Mrs. Street's 3rd Grade Class Mrs. Gibson, our Teacher Development Specialist, worked with writers to use concrete examples to explain abstract nouns. Our students developed many great examples like "Joy is my firework in the dark of the late night sky." Wow, what vivid word choice! |

Picture Retake Day
Picture Retake Day is scheduled for the morning of November 11th, 2021. If your child was absent on picture day, they will have their picture taken on retake day even if you are not purchasing any prints.
All New Britton students will have their pictures in this year's yearbook.
Place orders online at https://inter-state.com/order. Use order code 61883JB
Morning Arrival - Car Riders
- Arrive at school by 7:20 at the latest. Students should be in their classrooms ready to start instruction at 7:45.
- Follow the traffic flow to the back of the building by the basketball courts, splitting into 2 lines by our gym.
- Watch for direction as to when you should merge back into one line (when in the circle drive area). This is an alternating pattern.
- Have your student(s) ready to exit the car, only from the passenger side closest to the sidewalk, when the staff member waves to you.
- Avoid turning left from our parking lot after drop-off as this is creating a back-up and causing students to arrive late to class.
If you arrive at school for drop-off after 7:40, you will need to park and walk your student into the building.
Library
This year New Britton families can support our library in many ways. One way to this is by donating a book to our library.
We would love to continue building our collection of diverse books as well as those titles and series that our students love!
You have the option of choosing a book from our wish list or giving a monetary donation. When you pick a book from our library wish list you will have the option to add a donor plate and donate a book in honor of a child's birthday, special occasion, or a staff member! If you do this, we will be sure to share the book with your child’s class first and then add it to our library’s shelves.
When you purchase a book, the book will be shipped to our school processed and ready to be added to the shelves!
Below you will find the link to our school’s Support our Library page.

FYAP Snack Attack Program
NBE is pleased to announce the return of the Snack Attack program for those students in need. This program, supported by the Fishers Youth Assistance Program, is designed to provide students a little extra nourishment for the weekend until they can receive a hot meal at school on Monday.
Here's how the program works. Your student will pick up a small sack of food to be taken home over the weekend. The sack is filled with individually wrapped snacks such as granola bars, fruit cups, pop tarts, peanut butter/crackers, Goldfish crackers, etc. The type of snacks will vary each week. Please let us know if your child has a peanut allergy as he/she will receive a special bag of peanut-free snacks.
There is no cost to you or the school. If you are interested in having your student participate in FYAP's Snack Attack or have questions, please contact Sherri Leiner, NBE School Counselor at sleiner@hse.k12.in.us
