Do They Feel the Love?
I wrote this title a week ago with a different direction in mind. I wrote the title, closed out the newsletter and figured I would get my thoughts together during the week of tying in love and relationships…the same speech I've given all year of building them with kids and make it all come together in a Valentine's message. A week later, that feel good post went out the window and I reflect on that five word title and what it really means..do they really feel it? Do students really know they are loved even though we get frustrated, we come down on them, we lecture…do they feel loved? I yelled at Chase Conrad a month ago for something he did in the hallway that caused mass panic. In the days of grief, I wonder if he felt his principal really loved him…or was she some tyrant in the hallway who lost her cool. Could I have handled it better? Did I overreact? All of these are part of the grief process, but I can assure you that I will reflect. I know the love you have for your students…and in a tragedy such as this, we tend to put things under a microscope. Don't do what I am doing. Don't let yourself get overwhelmed with the moments where you weren't your best. Instead, let something good come from something bad; let it move you forward with positivity and a little more patience at times. What brings us together when things fall apart? Love.

Ugh...
Mr. Bogan abused jean day, flaunted his victory and proved he is ready to help Coach K out when they lose and his back goes out again!!!
Our Photographer Will Be Here Thursday!
Mrs. Soloman will be in the building on Thursday, 2/16 to take pictures throughout the day. Please allow her to come and go through the classrooms to capture students. Please tell students to continue on working as usual so that she can get candid shots. We are working on a project in the atrium to build culture!

Final Thought..
My heart was heavy the morning of February 8th as I delivered you the news of Chase's passing. In the moments following the meeting, Ryan's school called and he needed medicine. Russ called at 11:00 to tell me he made it through his first awards assembly as a principal. Drew Seidel gave a smile to my face so big that my face hurt with a belly laugh that was needed to break the tension…and the bell rang for kids to go to class. The thought that came over me…life goes on and so must we. We have to return to our normalcy…our new normalcy with 1197 students instead of 1198…we have to continue on as people are counting on us. Enjoy this belly laugh…may it make your face hurt from smiling so much!
