Principal's message - week 32
Greetings North Plains Hawks!
This morning I'm finally getting my voice back after losing it on Tuesday, so if I see you I can actually say hi! The kids have been so great, and amazingly quiet!
We have so many amazing parent and community volunteers, and we want to say thank you! The morning of Tuesday, April 25, we are inviting people who have volunteered their time at any point this year to join us for a continental breakfast in the library. We'll begin about 7:30 and end by 8:30 with no formal program, just some food and conversation. I hope most are able to attend!
Next week we have three major events to look forward to! The first is the spring photos that will take place on Tuesday. Please remember to send the packet back with your student if you want their photo taken, as only students with money and packets will be photographed. That of course is not true for 6th grade students who will all have photos taken for their promotion certificates. You will of course want to send the packet and money if you want to purchase photos.
That same evening, Tuesday the 18th, we have our kindergarten orientation at 5:30 PM. Although I attended last year, this will be my first experience welcoming new students and families into our kindergarten classes and I'm excited to meet them! If you know any families with incoming kinders, please inform them about this fun and important evening.
Finally, it's Spring Showcase time! Next Thursday all students will have the opportunity to look at historical artifacts throughout the day, brought to us by the North Plains Historical Society. In the evening, beginning at 5:30, there will be musical presentations by all of the classes, as well as the band and choir. During this time student work will be on display in the hallways, and students and parents will also have the opportunity to visit the NP Historical Society displays as well. Here is the rundown of the performance times for you:
Monahan, DeBolt, Gale 5:30 p.m. 5:40 p.m.
Job, Underhill 5:50 p.m. 6:00 p.m
Schneider, Phipps 6:10 p.m. 6:20 p.m.
Ravins, Lee 6:30 p.m. 6:40 p.m.
Choir 6:55 p.m.
6th Grade Band 7:05 p.m.
Richter, Chronister, McDowall 7:10 p.m. 7:20 p.m.
Several intermediate grade students (4-6) have entered an essay/speech contest that the NP Historical Society is sponsoring. We don't have a schedule for this yet, but students will present their entries to the judges in Room 5. Prizes will be awarded to the winning students!
Thank you to all of the volunteers for the book fair this year, especially Ryan Kind who led the charge. The kids had a great time. Thank you all!
Do you have an old combination lock that you would be willing to donate? I am hoping to collect a class set so I can work with 6th graders on this skill before next fall. If you have one or are willing to buy one and donate it, I would greatly appreciate it!
This is the last day of Quarter 3, only 10 more weeks to go!
Have a great weekend.
Becky
