Allergy Season is right around the corner!
It’s hard to focus in school or take a test with watery, itchy eyes and lots of sneezing and a runny nose, headache or sore throat.
Start thinking about those allergy medications now. As pollen levels start to elevate, please make sure your child is taking their allergy medicine/eye drops at home before they leave for school.
Helpful tips:
- Hydrate: Drink plenty of water to keep fluids in motion so irritants are flushed out.
- Rest: Get plenty of sleep so that your immune system can function at its peak.
(6-13 years old need 9-11 hours of sleep a night)
- Clean: Change your pillow cases frequently to stop re-contamination.
- Bathe: Wash hands and shower or bathe after being out in the pollen.
Here are is a good website to check the current pollen count and get ideas for allergy and asthma sufferers. :

Sharon Springs Dojo Provides Strong Support
Sharon Springs Dojo has been serving schools in Forsyth County for more than 15 years. You may think Dojo is just kicks and punches, but it’s much more than that.
“We know we can impact this generation,” said Josh Horwege, owner of Dojo, “With one of our company goals being to give back to the community, we find that being a Partner in Education is a terrific fit.”
While Dojo is staffed with accomplished experts in the sport, they pride themselves on their ability to connect and inspire children.
“The unique thing about Dojo is that every student comes to us for a different reason,” said Josh. “Some need physical activity or self-control while others want self-defense. Regardless the reason, our aim is to strengthen their future.”
Dojo offers two programs for students – evening karate classes as well as an afterschool program (both part-time and full-time) where your child is picked up from Big Creek and transported to Dojo.
“It takes a village to raise children,” said Josh. “That’s why it’s great to have the parent, the school and Dojo all on the same page.”
Dojo is located at 1595 Peachtree Pkwy (Sharon Kroger shopping center). For more information, contact them at 678-208-0295.
