Science
In Pre-K we are learning all about fabric! We will start by reading From Cotton to Pants by Ali Mitgutsch and exploring real, unprocessed cotton. Students will be able to touch and feel a variety of other fabrics such as tulle, seersucker, denim, and burlap, make fabric collages, and dress paper dolls using fabric scraps. We will also practice washing clothes, hanging clothes on a clothesline, and dying fabric.

Art
In art, PK students are exploring the question "How do you know its winter?". They recently viewed the beauty in winter's bare trees and the lines created by branches, then drew and painted scenes with 'winter trees'. Pre-kindergarteners will next make works of art inspired by snowflakes. Students will also examine designs found in warm winter scarves and use a variety of materials to create their own scarf.
Woodworking
Students have been learning the proper way to use many different tools. So far they have used tape measures, screwdrivers, wrenches, sanding blocks and hammers. Currently, they are building and constructing different structures using numerous different materials. Students are challenging themselves to make creations that can stand independently. We are also supporting their classroom study of comparative vocabulary by experimenting with measurement using tape measures.
