Top History Students Celebrate Constitution Day
Six Monomoy Regional High School seniors attended the James Otis Lecture in Boston on Constitution Day, September 17th. These top history students toured historic sites along the Freedom Trail as well as the State House where lectures on the constitutional protections of the jury system were given by Judge Nancy Gertner and Professor Andrew Ferguson. The American Board of Trial Advocates sponsors the annual event that draws students from across the state.

5 Quick Things - Our Way of Introducing our Terrific MRHS Staff!
5. I grew up on the Cape, and went to Chatham High, where I played soccer and basketball, and had Mrs. Doyle as an English teacher. The great teachers in our schools, and support for education in our communities helped inspire me to go into education. Go Sharks!
4. For 10 summers in high school and college I worked as a commercial shellfisherman digging clams in the waters off Chatham and Monomoy with my twin sister. It was a fantastic (and exhausting) job, but it gave me a great appreciation for the importance of taking care of the local and global environment, and how humans and ecosystems interact. We learn about the human side of those connections in my Global Issues elective.
3. I’ve have spent a number of past summers on bicycle tours with my teaching friends from college: trekking across eastern Canada, biking from Spain to Switzerland, and riding 1000 miles across Alaska. Luckily, the bears I saw in Alaska were a long way from the road!
2. I love the outdoors, and when I’m not teaching I can be found sailing, hiking, camping, running, and kayaking.
1. Like the other teachers in the Monomoy social studies department, I’m passionate about helping students to become educated civic leaders and to become active and engaged in their communities. My family knows they’ll be scolded for not voting, but in my wedding vows this summer, I promised my wife I would love her even though she hasn’t consistently voted in midterm elections. That's true love from a civics teacher!

Shark "Shout Outs" (SSO's) - MRHS's way of Appreciating the Great People here!
CONGRATULATIONS are in order for sophomores Dylan Routhier and Ben Hayden, as well as junior Vaughn Yerkes!! They performed in their respective bands at the Harwich Cranberry Festival Music Jam last Sunday and were amazing!! We are so fortunate to have such talented rockers! Watch and listen for them in January at our Rock & Rap night!!
Ms. Forte-Doyle
Shark Shoutout this week to Junior, Carly Donovan, a field hockey/tennis player who in the cafe last block took it upon herself to reach out to an 8th grade boy sitting alone and visibly upset. I was able to get the young man up to guidance but it is unlikely I would have noticed the situation if she had made the first move. You've got a good one there Coach Poore!
Mr. Demanche
Shark Shout Out to student representative to the school committee Laine Kotoski for sharing all the exciting happenings at MRHS with the school committee and our community!
Mr. Burkhead
Huge ongoing thanks to 8th grader Laura Brown who helps in the office almost daily! From filing papers, to figuring out (and teaching me to use) the label maker, to decorating a bulletin board, Laura’s sense of order, organization, and creativity make her the perfect set of extra hands for any task that arises! I particularly appreciate her willing attitude and helpful nature. Thank you Laura!
Ms. Ferro
Unsung Hero Award !! A tremendous Shark Shout-Out to Mr. Peter Moynagh for his compassion and thoughtfulness in times of need !!
During a family medical emergency, Mr. Moynagh surprised Ms. Girolamo and her family with a delicious, completely prepared dinner, side dish and bread included, delivered hot to their doorstep and ready to eat !! This was topped off with wonderful words of encouragement and pleasant, heart-felt conversation !!! What a wonderful, thoughtful gesture from a fabulous, giving man !!
Ms. Girolamo
I am pleased to introduce our new Lead Technician for the Monomoy Regional School District Technology Department - Alan Hagberg.
He comes with exception experience in both networking, client support in both MAC and PC environments. Coming from California, Alan even worked for over five years for Mike Markkula, one or the founders of Apple Computer.
Alan will be primarily located at HES.
I would also like to take the time to thank the hard-working Technology Staff, Martha R, Kathy C and Dan C who have had to work under short-staffed conditions for the past 5 months. Even under these conditions the tech team has completed over 6800 support requests.
Deb Morgan
Shout out to our Technology Director Deb Morgan for dedicating her time to work with our parents during curriculum night on Aspen training, that will improve home-school communication
