Knightly Update May 2, 2021
Edition Vol 9 Issue 37
It's Teacher Appreciation Week! A heartfelt thank you to all of our ACP teachers. The work they do each and every day is absolutely phenomenal - and this year was especially extraordinary. I appreciate each teacher on our faculty and wish them a wonderful Teacher Appreciation Week. Thank you for choosing to be a teacher and for being there for your students, one another and the ACP community. Please join me in thanking each of them for all that they do in and out of the classroom. Fantastic work teachers!
Welcome to the final month of the school year. It is hard to believe we are at the close of the year and will be saying farewell and good luck to the Class of 2021 in a few weeks. I appreciate all our teachers, students, and staff have done to make this year the best it could possibly be, and I look forward to finishing the year strong. Keep up the good work everyone!
Advanced Placement (AP) exams begin this week and will continue through May 17th. It is important that students arrive on time to take their exams. Strict time parameters and guidelines must be followed so it is critical that students arrive to the appropriate location on the day of their exam. As always, please encourage your child to get a good night's rest, eat a healthy breakfast, and bring a positive mindset to school. I know our students are prepared and will do their absolute best. I wish them the best of luck on these exams.
Good luck to our spring athletes that have entered or will be entering state championship play. It has been an exciting spring season for our athletes and I am excited to see how the athletes and our teams do in the various tournaments. I will be certain to share the outcome of this season's championship tournaments with everyone as results come in. Go, KNIGHTS!
Included in this week's update is a list of the remaining school events that will take place this year. I am pleased to share that our school will not be limiting the number of guests attending the Class of 2021's Commencement Ceremony. The ceremony will begin at 7:30 PM at Perry High School's John Wrenn Stadium on May 27th, with gates opening at 6:45 for immediate family and general admission beginning at 7:00 PM. I look forward to celebrating the Class of 2021's graduation from high school and wishing them well as they move on to new adventures.
I hope you have a great start to May. As always, if you have any questions, please contact me. Thank you for choosing to be a part of the ACP family. Enjoy the week.
Rob Bickes
Principal

Important COVID-19 Reminders
Please remember students should not come to school if they have any COVID-19 symptoms, have been diagnosed with COVID-19, are waiting for test results, or have been in close contact (within 6 feet of a person with COVID-19 for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period or had physical contact with a person with COVID-19, you need to stay in quarantine at home for 14 days). Parents need to report this to our nurse, Mrs. Hughes.

CUSD Mask Update
As stated in the Governor’s press release on April 19, “K-12 school districts and charter schools still maintain the right to institute and enforce policies to mitigate against COVID-19 spread including the use of masks.”
In a special session Wednesday evening, the Chandler Unified School District Governing Board reviewed the most current information, CDC and public health recommendations, and comments from the community related to the mitigation strategies that have successfully allowed us to return to in-person learning on January 19. In order to finish out the school year strong, hold safe in-person graduation ceremonies, and continue to minimize community spread of COVID-19 on our campuses, the governing board voted to modify our current mask policy beginning Monday, April 26. The mask policy still requires all students in grades PK-12 to wear masks while indoors. In grades PK-6 masks are optional during outdoor activities. In grades 7-12 masks are optional during all supervised outdoor PE classes.
If the CUSD infection rate remains low, effective May 31, 2021 masks will be optional moving forward, beginning with Summer School.
The superintendent will have the authority to make adjustments as needed. All other mitigation strategies currently in place will remain at least through the end of the school year. Thank you for your continued support of our prevention strategies, which will enable us to finish the school year strong, healthy, and safe.
