Lyman Elementary
May 2022
A Note From Mr. McPhee
Dear Lyman Parents and Guardians,
The month of May is a busy time. We're in the full swing of Smarter Balanced testing in 3rd through sixth grades. I appreciate the effort that every child is putting forth to do their best and the work that our staff has done to prepare each child to be successful on these important statewide assessments. We created a test schedule that focuses on classroom learning by breaking the testing down into shorter, more manageable sessions. Please make sure your child is getting a good night's rest and a solid breakfast each morning. This will help in their ability to show their best work and effort.
I want to thank the Lyman Parent Group for another great flower basket fundraiser. Their efforts to improve our great little school is felt every day. Please come out and join us in the library on May 10th for another LPG meeting. All meetings start at 6:00pm.
May 2nd through the 6th is teacher appreciation week. Please join me in celebrating our teachers for all of their hard work and dedication to the craft of teaching and learning! We have an outstanding teaching staff! We should be very proud of the work that they do every day for our children.
May 11th is also National School Nurse Day. I want to thank our nurses Mrs. Irons, Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Johnson for all their work in keeping our students healthy and safe every day. Thank you ladies for all you do!
Our annual spring Scholastic Book Fair is scheduled for May 9-13. Please come out and support our students and the school with purchasing books. Reading is the core to all learning and academic growth. Help us support the importance of reading through the book fair.
Thank you for all your support in helping to make Lyman Elementary a great school! It all starts with our great community!
Sincerely,
Scott A, McPhee
