COUNSELOR'S CORNER!
As we navigate the journey of raising kind, compassionate, and well-rounded individuals, one essential value that we can instill in our children is gratitude. Teaching gratitude is not only a wonderful way to foster positivity and empathy, but it also lays the foundation for a fulfilling and contented life. In this newsletter, we'd like to share some tips and ideas on how to incorporate gratitude into your family's daily routine.
Lead by Example: Children learn best by observing their parents. Show your gratitude by expressing thanks for the little things in life - a beautiful sunset, a kind gesture from a friend, or a delicious meal. Your child will absorb this attitude of appreciation and incorporate it into their own lives.
Daily Gratitude Rituals: Encourage your child to reflect on what they are grateful for each day. This could be during a dedicated time before bedtime, or as part of a morning routine. Creating this habit can help them focus on the positive aspects of their day.
Gratitude Journals: Provide your child with a notebook where they can jot down things they are thankful for. Encourage them to be specific and detailed, which helps them develop a deeper appreciation for the people and experiences in their lives.
Share Gratitude Stories: Share stories about individuals who have overcome adversity or shown immense kindness. Highlight the impact of gratitude in their lives, and discuss how it can be applied in our own daily interactions.
Acts of Kindness: Encourage your child to perform small acts of kindness for others, without expecting anything in return. This could be as simple as a smile, a compliment, or lending a helping hand. These acts foster a sense of gratitude and empathy towards others.
Gratitude Jar: Set up a "Gratitude Jar" in a central location in your home. Encourage family members to write down things they are grateful for and place them in the jar. Periodically, gather together to read these notes aloud. It's a beautiful way to celebrate and appreciate the positive moments in your lives.
Volunteer Together: Engaging in community service activities as a family provides a tangible way to express gratitude for the blessings you have. It also reinforces the idea that we are all part of a larger community, and we have a responsibility to help and support one another.
Celebrate Milestones: Whether big or small, celebrating achievements and milestones is an opportunity to express gratitude. It reinforces the idea that hard work and perseverance pay off, and it's important to acknowledge and appreciate our accomplishments.
Encourage Mindfulness: Teach your child to be present in the moment and appreciate the beauty and wonder around them. This mindfulness practice can lead to a greater sense of gratitude for the world we live in.
Open Communication: Foster an environment where your child feels comfortable expressing their feelings and concerns. Encourage them to talk about what they are thankful for, as well as any challenges they may be facing.
By incorporating these practices into your family's routine, you are helping to nurture a sense of gratitude that will serve your child well throughout their life. Together, we can create a culture of appreciation and kindness that extends beyond our homes and into the wider world.
Wishing you a season filled with gratitude and joy!
Warm regards,
Mrs. Kuzas

PBIS CORNER
What is PBIS?
Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports is an important part of the school environment to encourage positive behavior. There are clear expectations throughout the school that are taught consistently throughout the year. The four expectations promoted at Field Local Schools are:
Safe
Outstanding
Accountable
Respectful
When students do not respond to teaching of the building or classroom expectations, we will view it as an opportunity for re-teaching, not just negative consequences. Students still receive consequences for negative behavior. The goal of the consequence is to teach students so they will not repeat the negative behavior.
