Thought of the Week
"Success is the sum of all efforts, repeated day in, day out".
We all know that success doesn’t come easily, but what does it actually mean to achieve it?
Success is the accomplishment of a task. It doesn’t really happen all of a sudden. It takes a lot of patience, perseverance and effort to get success. Life’s achievements are like a train and success is the final station, and before reaching there, the train must be full of efforts- a small amount of efforts fills it slowly in every station till the whole train is filled.
Life is a continuous process of improvement until you reach your goals. We don't become the best or great overnight. We need to constantly improve one step at a time.

10 Blue
Hi Y10, what an amazing (and busy) few weeks it has been since we returned from half term!
It was great to see such a fantastic effort for Children in Need. So many amazing stalls and ideas. Huge shoutout to my form, 10 Blue, especially Tyler, who hand designed/built/painted the structure for our stall. Yet again showing how creative we are as a form and continuing to be exemplar for others.
We have a busy few weeks ahead of us and I am sure you are all looking forward to seeing A Christmas Carol - as a drama teacher, you can understand my envy...
10 Blue let's keep setting the example in terms of scoring highly on those positives!!! We are close to being the best form in the year group for positive points and the least number of negatives too. Fantastic effort over the last few weeks, let's take that title as we near Christmas.
10 Purple
When we return to the academy in January ,Some year 10's will be taking external exams in Health and social care, Sport and business. There are a range of intervention classes after school on a Tuesday/Wednesday and Thursday. The PE department have provided every student with a revision guide for their subject. This is an excellent opportunity for the student to recognise types of exam style question that may come up. As well as develop their knowledge and understanding of their course content.
11 Red
11 Red have met every challenge this academic year with a strong determination and a will to succeed. This has been shown through their attendance to school, extra period 6 lessons and the focus in your revision sessions during form time. You are giving yourself the best opportunity to succeed.
It has been great to see many of you do so well in your mock exams and just as good to see the reaction from others to improve. This coming term this will to succeed and personal ownership of learning will be vital in what I am sure will be a successful Year 11, keep going!
11 Yellow
It has been a great term for 11 Yellow, the group has gone from strength to strength, earning a huge amount of positive points, and setting the standard for behaviour around the Academy shown by a big reduction in negative points received on the whole.
11 Yellow really embraced Children in Need this year with a hugely successful stall, the students really enjoyed being a part of this both the planning of the stall and running of the stall, the group really were a credit to the Academy, this was also echoed during the remembrance day activities where our students are learning about the sacrifice others have made to protect the freedom of future generations.
This term has not been without it’s challenges, the students have all now completed one whole round of PPE’s. 11 Yellow have been working on revision techniques within tutor sessions, whilst also discussing real world issues and having debates around issues.
As always I am extremely proud of 11 Yellow, they have taken knock backs in their stride and have built on them. I have seen the group develop over the past few months, it is amazing to see such a group of well rounded students on a daily basis.
11 Green
Wow! The year is already moving so quickly! Snow not long off the ground, entering the Christmas with 2022 right around the corner.
Goes without saying to have a great time off over the holidays, two weeks to recharge and have fun during, but also two weeks to get ready for the next stage of your journey. Mock exams are coming soon, so make every second count, do yourselves proud, and get yourself for the next steps of your journey. A world of opportunities awaits you, get in position to make the best of each of them.
11 Blue
Year 11 have shown resilience and determination since returning after half term and receiving their October mock exam results. They are determined to succeed with their chosen GCSE’s and are now busily working hard towards their next set of PPE’s in January. Year 11’s are already planning towards their next career choices by choosing their A Level subjects and taking an active role during their one-to-one meetings to discuss their next steps.
During our fundraising afternoon for Children in Need in November, 11 Blue managed to raise a total of £46.00 for a worthwhile charity. A special thanks go to Katie Haughey and Megan Aubrey for managing the toy stall during the afternoon and encouraging students to buy from our stall.
11 Purple
Wow, Year 11! What a start you have made to this academic year!
I cannot believe that we are already half way through! Now is the time for you to be knuckling down and really getting your head into the game...but first turkey! Ensure you have a rest over the Christmas break seeing friends and family, but please remember to keep safe!
Some things I would like to celebrate this term are as follows:
Jared Ball, Bailey Paterson, Louise Sheard-Tilsley and Taylor Horvat being published in the Young Writer's 'Unsolved' book - which is now available to read in the library!
Jared Ball being the only student in the school to enter the 'Empowered' poetry competition - keep your eyes peeled for announcements in the new year!
And overall, everyone in this year group - the majority of you are working incredibly hard in preparation for your exams and we are all so proud of you, keep going and always ask for help and guidance from any teacher in the academy.
Have a wonderful Christmas break and I look forward to seeing you in the new year 🙂
Charity
Reverse Advent Calendar
Each tutor group will be taking part in the reverse advent calendar again this year. Students are asked to bring in one item on the calendar to donate to the local food bank. Last year we had an amazing response and would like to repeat it again to help our local community!
Children In Need
A huge thank you to everyone for your hard work and effort in making last Friday’s Children in Need event a huge success. It was great to see all the stalls and activities produced by each tutor group and all the students really enjoyed the event. We raised an amazing £970!!
Winning tutor groups from Key Stage 4 was 11 Blue with Mrs Garland.
So far this academic year we have raised £1600 for charity!! And its only November!! #TeamSUA
