Middle School Partners Program
SAISD
What does Middle School Partners at Whittier Middle School look like?
Middle School Partners at Whittier Middle School is similar to other Partner programs in the district. There is a cohort of 8th grade students, 7th grade students and 6th grade Bridge to Promotion Students. The cohort of 8th and 7th grade students have Partners for 1 hour and 30 minutes. During that time the 8th graders are working on high school credits.7th graders are also working on high school credits but at a much slower pace than the 8th graders. The goal for 8th grade is 2.5 high school credits by the end of the year. The goal for the 7th graders is to finish Health by the end of the year. My main focus for 7th grade is to get familiarized with how Edgenuity works, being together for 2 class periods, so that way next year they can hit the ground running as 8th graders. My 8th and 7th grade cohorts are made up of football players, volleyball players, artists and musicians.

Natural Bridge Caverns Field Trip
Our MSP Students got a chance to go on the Discovery Tour at Natural Bridge Caverns. For some of our students this was the first time being out of San Antonio and being inside a cave. Our students enjoyed the almost 1/2 mile long journey down 200 ft into the cave.
Woah this is more interesting than I thought it would be.
How long have we been walking?
Students take a quick breather while listening to the guide talk about the different rock formations.
Are we almost at the end yet?
6th Grade Bridge to Promotion - STEM Fridays
On Fridays our BTP 6th grade students take part of CIS Stem Launchpad curriculum. The 10 week curriculum included tons of hands on activities, team building activities and individual assignments.
6th grade students were put into groups with the task of building the tallest tower out of note cards, tape and a piece of paper. This project was provided by our wonderful CIS Rechina Estell.
