Notes from the Office
Edwardsburg Public Schools does not participate in traditional Halloween parties. There are should be no costumes worn to school. We encourage all families to join the fun on the Spook-a-thon sponsored by the Edwardsburg High School S.A.D.D on October 25th.
If you drop your student off in the morning, I highly encourage you to start allowing the children to get out of the car on their own and walk to the door. We are noticing a large congestion at the front doors and it is sometimes difficult for students to get past the crowds of people to enter the school. Thank you for your help with this situation.
Homecoming Tattoos & Student Tickets
If you plan to attend the football game, we encourage you to not allow your student to run around unsupervised. It is a safety issue when there are little ones unsupervised and we want all Eddie's to be safe at the game.
Volunteers
We continue to implement safety measures in the school, which includes: assigned seats/spots in the classroom, assigned cafeteria tables, zones on the playground and the voluntary wearing of masks. These strategies are in addition to the continued sanitation of our building.
As a parent, I know it is difficult when you want to be at the building and helping our teachers and students.
Is it Bullying?
The Daily Five
The five tasks include:
1) Read to Self
2) Read to Someone
3) Listen to Reading
4) Work on Writing
5) Word Work
Our students have been taught that there are three different ways to read a book:
- Read the Pictures
- Read the Words
- Retell the Story
Because early learners can read the pictures, all of our Primary students are finding success during their Daily Five sessions. Our students are currently tracking their class reading stamina. If you ask them how long their class can read, almost all students should be able to share with you.
You can help your child become an independent reader by having them practice reading to themselves at home, in addition to you reading with them.
