Weekly Newsletter

From the Director
Dear CDS Community,
We've had an incredibly active week at CDS Middle School! I'm so grateful for the hard work, creativity, and dedication our faculty have shown over the last few months. Despite having to pivot suddenly to online learning, teachers have made it possible for students to wrap up the school year fully engaged in meaningful events and learning experiences.
The Fine Arts department did a wonderful job this year with the 7th Annual CDS Silent Art Auction. With the help of students, teachers, and parents, we were able to raise 909,000 KRW to support the charity Teach North Korean Refugees (TNKR). We're proud of all the creativity and talent generated by our community in support of this worthy cause.
I am also grateful this week for Mr. Drews and Mr. Thach for their excellent work leading the 7th and 8th grade Self-Determined Learning showcases. We sincerely appreciate the many parents who showed up in virtual spaces to offer their feedback and support. 7th & 8th grade students produced some amazing work and the whole community is now more informed and more prepared to face the challenges of the 21st century.
I also extend a big thank you to our Athletics Coordinator, Mr. Monette, as well as all the coaches and parents who supported our athletics program this year. Although seasons were cut short, I hope all middle school students will have plenty of opportunities to compete and develop their teamwork and sportsmanship in 2020-21.
Still ahead we have Phoenix Defense week (in place of final exams), an End of Year MS Assembly, Virtual Arch Day, and the 8th Grade Graduation ceremony. Please find more information on these events by clicking on the button below.
Stay safe and healthy in the week ahead!
Mr. Scoville
Director of Middle School

Grade 7 SDL Showcase
Dear CDS Community / CDS 학부모님께,
7th grade SDL students have worked very hard on their projects and we hope to provide them with an audience and thoughtful feedback on their work. Your presence and feedback----as parents, teachers, and students---will mean a lot to them and will positively impact their learning and development.
Please be sure to visit the website throughout the week to see students' work and offer your feedback.
