Wrangler Weekly
Week of September 25, 2023
Message from Ms. Bratton, principal
It was fantastic seeing so many families at our Open House on Monday. Thank you for your support!
A huge thank you to PTA and our counseling team for providing students with a great guidance lesson this week. Students enjoyed going through a huge obstacle course and then relating the experience to real life -- how some things slow you down or look overwhelming; however, with practice and planning and persistence, it gets easier. Thank you again to our counselors for this innovative lesson on perseverance and to our PTA for helping line up all the necessities for the course!
We have a super important date coming up is Monday, October 2.
October 2 will not only be a progress report but will also be the 6 weeks grade check.
If your student is participating in any UIL event, such as volleyball or football, they will keep or lose eligibility based on these grades.
Students failing at the 6-week grade check on Oct. 2 become ineligible at the end of the school day on October 6. At the end of 9 week grading period, October 13, all students will again keep, lose, or regain eligibility based on their report card grades.
Please check Skyward and have your student start working on potential problem areas this weekend. In addition, students should make a plan to utilize tutorials. We have the current tutoring list below. We will share revised schedules with you as our teachers who coach make updates throughout the year due to their practice schedules.
If you have any questions about grades, please reach out to the teacher as they have first-hand knowledge of your child's academic performance. If there are other stressors, our counselors are always willing to help with that.
Go Wranglers!

SBMS Tutoring Schedule (we will share updates as coaches' seasons change)
TUTORING REMINDER: If a student is looking for a specific teacher and they are unavailable, we send them to another teacher in the same department, when possible.
See You At The Pole - Sept 27
See You at the Pole is on Wednesday, Sept 27 at 7:45 and is a Global Day for student prayer. SYATP started in 1990 with a small group of students from Burleson Texas. Students come together one day out of the year globally and meet around the flagpole to pray over their school, community, nation, and the world. This is a student-led event.
Pastor Robbie East, former Assistant Principal Meghan East's husband, will be with us and students will be leading the prayers.
PSAT Testing for 8th Graders - Oct 4
Our 8th grade students will be taking the PSAT the morning of October 4th. An email was sent to all 8th grade parents on Thursday regarding PSAT & College Board Account setup. Please look for that email and contact keely.zach@comalisd.org if you have any questions. A couple of reminders for this day:
- We will have a closed campus this day, so no bringing lunches or visitors.
- A restful night's sleep and a hearty breakfast is the best start to a PSAT.
- There will be no tutoring this morning as we set up for testing
- Please try to avoid scheduling appointments for this day, if possible

Thank you to everyone who sent in food and volunteered to set up, serve and clean up afterwards. It really does take a village to make it happen and all of you are appreciated!
