Parent Nominations for ELP
The yearly screening of students for participation in the Extended Learning Program (ELP), the elementary program for gifted and very high ability students, is underway for the 2020-2021 school year. This program is appropriate for students who are at the highest academic levels in their grade. Students can enter this screening pool by Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress (ISASP) scores, teacher nomination or parent nomination. More information is available on the district website www.iowacityschools.org/ELP.
Only grades three through five are included in this screening process. Kindergarten and first grade students are being screened for ELP services through in-class lessons and collaboration with the classroom teacher throughout the school year. All second grade students will be screened in the Spring. Parents will receive notification about second grade screening when it is scheduled at their child’s school. No parent or teacher nominations are necessary for grades K-2.
If you would like to nominate your third, fourth or fifth grade child to be tested for ELP services, please complete a parent information form. Forms will be available online between February 21 and March 27, 2020, at https://forms.gle/AYjHSh61bErcyRWi8. Paper forms will be available in the school office during the same time. No forms will be accepted after March 27, 2020, at 4:00 PM.
Hey .... families of "baby bolts"
Future Bolt Families-
What is school pride? School pride is the heart of a school. It’s knowing that you’re part of a community of students, staff and parents working together to create positive relationships and foster a sense of belonging. School pride translates into higher expectations of yourself and your surroundings, creates passion that is contagious, and lasts long after graduation.
Since the opening of Liberty High School in 2017, the Liberty community has worked together to build astrong Bolt Nation, to create a sense of togetherness and celebrate successes. As Future Bolts, your kids are already part of creating the Bolt Nation, participating in the Liberty Homecoming Celebration, attending Liberty sports camps and workshops, cheering at Liberty sports, choir and theater performances, and taking part in Liberty sponsored activities and programs. We want to ensure all Liberty students can access the opportunities that Liberty has to offer for many more years to come. The Liberty Fund - run by Liberty families, students and staff – supports co-curricular groups and ensures all students have access to opportunities through collective fundraising.
The Liberty Fund has provided grants to students and co-curricular groups for the past two years acrossa wide spectrum of student needs and interests. The Liberty Fund would not exist without the supportof the Liberty community. To make a tax-deductible donation to support the ongoing work of The Liberty Fund, go to https://libertylightningfund.weebly.com/donate.html now. You can also leave a lasting legacy at Liberty High School on the Liberty Path of Recognition. Donate $250 or more to The Liberty Fund and receive a personalized, engraved paver at the entrance to Liberty.
Thanks for your consideration and Go Bolts!
