ELA: Fairy Tale FUN
In Language Arts, we continued to discuss and identify the elements and structure of a fairy tale. Our goal was to determine the central message by using text evidence. Next week, we will be comparing and contrasting two or more versions of Stone Soup and Peter Rabbit. Students will discuss each story and decide which kind of literature it is while finding text evidence to support their thoughts.
In Writing, we continued to practice and prepare for our fabulous puppet shows! We created puppets, and finished backgrounds. Along with script practice, students are finishing up their small moment narratives. It so amazing watching these little second graders turn into such strong writers!
Math
In Math, we recently finished unit 4. The students worked so hard during that unit; we couldn't be prouder of their success! As we embrace unit 5, students will learn how to tell time, draw and use picture graphs, and solve word problems using time and graphing skills. Please help your little one to prepare for this unit by looking for clocks in your home. Talk about telling time by the hour, half hour, and by five minutes. Background knowledge will definitely help with their confidence in telling time.
Science: Balance and Motion
During the past few weeks, the students have had so much fun learning all about Balance and Motion! We completed several experiments in order to learn more about how objects stay stable or balanced. This week in Science, we will continue experimenting and learning more about balancing and motion.

Fairy Tale Puppet Shows...
Thank you so much for coming to our Fabulous Puppet Shows. Our students worked so hard and it was awesome to see it all come together!
