4th Grade "Concert" Requirements
Performance is one of the Indiana State Music Standards and at Joan Martin each grade level has ONE concert a year. This concert is our "test" for the semester and all students will be receiving a grade for their effort and personal best during the concert.
All students will be meeting this requirement through participating in the production of Alice in Wonderland, Jr.. A note was sent home earlier this fall for students to indicate how they would be meeting their performance requirement: either as a actor/drama club, a member of the production crew/drama club, a member of the set design club, an usher or greeter on the night of the performance, or as a poster designer. Please contact Mrs. Amsler if you have questions or concerns about this project.

What Are "Mad Minute" Tests?
We have started Mad Minutes in Music! Students have 1 minute to name 30 note names that they need to have memorized. Memorizing note names improves students’ overall music reading performance; it decreases the amount of time to translate written music to instruments and allows students to move onto more challenging concepts.
Although the grades will be posted in the grade book, hang tight- they will be averaged at the end of the semester for a single Mad Minute grade. Your child can show you their past test scores in the Music Google Classroom on their chromebook. Please support your student by helping him/her practice with flash cards or the optional worksheets that are sent home!
If you have any questions or concerns about this program, please don’t hesitate to contact Mrs. Amsler!
