I look forward to talking to you all about our year so far. If you have trouble using Sign-Up Genius, feel free to email me with questions.
For those who already signed up - THANK YOU! I look forward to meeting with everyone in a couple of weeks!
PUMPKIN TIME!
In case you have not heard, we are working our way through a Pumpkin Unit. The last 2 weeks we have worked in groups to name our pumpkins, estimate, measure (height&circumference), and weigh them. We also worked on predicting the number of seeds in each and opened up our pumpkins to count and check our estimates.
Finally, we researched ways to keep a carved pumpkin from rotting and are in the observation stages. Can't wait to see how they turn out!
Getting the guts out!
Look, Ma - goo hands!

Sorting into groups of 10 for counting

Our preservation methods:
WD-40 & Bleach (both applied by adults for safety reasons), vegetable oil, petroleum jelly, hairspray, and baby oil.
Microscope Fun
We used our new microscopes (with the help of Miss Sonja) to take a closer look. Can you guess what parts of the pumpkins you see? (Answers below the Calendar reminders.)
