PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE by Kayla Bell
Dear Families,
It is hard to believe that we are nearing the end of the school year. I want to thank you for sharing your child with us this year. We hope it has been a year of academic, social and emotional growth. Thank you for your continued support of our staff and our programs. We appreciate partnering with you in your child’s development.
I want to extend a huge thank you for supporting our Croc Walk this year. We brought in over $24,000 to support the work we do here at school. We are thankful. By meeting our goal, students had the opportunity to attend our Presto the Magician assembly. Students thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
I am still working on staffing our building for next year, so teaching assignments are not complete yet. But I do know that we have some good-byes to share.
Help us say good-bye to Linda Bargmann. Mrs. Bargmann has been teaching for 38 years. WOW! She has helped shape the lives of over 1,000 children. Mrs. Bargmann was part of the original Nancy Ryles staff that opened our school.
Help us say good-bye to Anne Young. Mrs. Young has been teaching for 23 years with 14 of those years at Nancy Ryles. She has touched the lives of over 600 children.
Mrs. Bargmann and Mrs. Young are at the heart of the Nancy Ryles community. They have left big shoes to fill and they will be missed. We wish them the best in their retirement!
Help us say good-bye to Marcia Holm. Mrs. Holm has served as our resource room teacher. She is moving to Mt. View Middle School.
Help us say good-bye to Bethany Messina. Ms. Messina has served as a member of our second grade team. Ms. Messina will be teaching 1st grade at Oak Grove Elementary in North Clackamas School District.
Help us say good-bye to Joseph Chung. Mr. Chung has served as an instructional assistant to our students. He is planning to continue his efforts as a volunteer in schools.
Help us say good-bye to Mr. Peterson, Mrs. Huntley, Ms. Nugent, Mrs. Kurpiel, Ms. Lapp and Mr. Hall. Our ELC team is moving to Sato Elementary. We wish them well.
Help us say good-bye to our fifth grade class. They are leaving Nancy Ryles with more skills, knowledge and friendships and they are ready to conquer middle school.
It is always difficult to say good-bye to old friends at the end of the year. At the same time, we look forward to welcoming new friends in the coming weeks.
Enjoy these final two weeks of the school year.
Kayla
PS. At the end of the Croc Talk are some fun pictures from school events!

NRCO NEWS
Croc Walk: Our largest fundraiser, the Croc Walk fun run, was a huge success in so many ways. Students, staff, and many volunteers showed their school spirit by wearing their assigned class colors and creating a huge Blast of Color! The weather was ideal! After taking to the track for 20 minutes, students headed under cover for a cooling smoothie (thank you Jamba Juice) and a scrumptious Kind bar (thank you Kind). All students also received a voucher for a free small soft serve from Dairy Queen in Aloha (thank you DQ). Also, we surpassed our goal of $20K!!! We raised more than $24.5K!!! THANK YOU! We expect that total to go up a bit more as we wait for a few checks to be mailed in and some confirmation on company matches. The feedback was excellent, the smiles large, and school spirit beyond fabulous. So, thank you to everyone for raising the funds, donating money/time, and for supporting our community!!! THANK YOU EVERYONE!
Jamba Juice: Wow it's been hot, hot, hot!!! And it's probably going to get even hotter over the summer. Wouldn't it be nice to cool down?!? Of course! So why not cool off while saving money, raising money, and supporting a business that supports our school? Check out the attached flyer to get more details and to order your Jamba Juice Fundraiser Cards - and the NRCO gets 50% of the sales! Such a win-win! Hard copies will be going home today (Friday) or Monday so check those backpacks. Then be ready for a refreshing summer with your family and some Jamba Juice. Thanks again to Jamba Juice for providing all of our Croc Walk runners with free smoothies and for dressing as bananas and running around the track with our kids! You rock!!!
5th Grade Sendoff: Fifth graders should have brought home information about the upcoming sendoff party. It includes the timeline of events and a permission slip for the "field trip" portion of the day. If you have not received the information, please check those backpacks. Remember that the NRCO provides the funds, so there is no cost to you.
Box Tops: Last chance this school year to get those Box Tops in! Students can turn them in to the collection bin in their classroom. All Box Tops that haven't expired are wanted. Remember to keep saving over the summer so you'll have a huge collection for the next school year. The deadline is Friday, June 16. Thanks.
School Supplies: Nancy Ryles partners with SchoolKidz to create school supply kits for our students. This optional program provides one-stop shopping for next year's supplies. The kit will contain all of the necessary items for your child's grade, as listed on the Nancy Ryles website (https://www.beaverton.k12.or.us/schools/nancy-ryles/for-parents/Pages/School-Supplies.aspx).
You can also purchase backpacks and lunch bags through this program. Order forms were sent home this week, and sales close on June 23. If you would like to purchase a supply kit for the 2017-18 school year, please visit www.shopttkits.com and use account number 91627. The kits will be ready for pickup on September 1st at Donuts & Drop Off or on the first day of school.
Please contact Angela Montz at angela.montz@gmail.com with any questions.
D4$ UPDATE: This past Tuesday, we had our D4$ at Menchie's Progress Ridge. It was a great success! Thanks to our community's support and the warm weather, we earned $321.06 (20% of the sales). Thank you everyone!

THE DRAGON TRADE LIBRARY
The Dragon Trade Library will be out for use again this summer! The Trade Library will be wheeled out to the back of the building (on the blacktop, under cover) during the summer months. The idea is simple: give a book to the Trade Library, and then take a book from the Trade Library. Here are some ways to support the trade library:
· From now until the end of the school year (6/22/2017), donate slightly used books that are age appropriate (ages 5-11). Books can be deposited in the box marked “Book Donations” in the lobby of the school.
· Try out the Trade Library before school during the last week of school! Bring a slightly used book to trade to begin your reading adventure before summer! June 19-22 in front of the school.
· Visit The Dragon this summer! From Monday, June 26 to Friday September 1, every weekday, on the blacktop in the back of the school!
Questions? Please contact Ms. Osborne (503)356-2406 or erin_osborne@beaverton.k12.or.us
The Dragon hopes to see you!
