World Read Aloud Day - Friday, February 1st
Friday, February 1st is World Read Aloud day. Not only is it a great day to read to your class but you can also Skype with an author and have them read one of their books to your class for FREE! Author Kate Messner has collected info from Authors willing to Skype for free on this day. Check out her website linked below if you would like to book an author for your class. I would be happy to help coordinate this as well :)
What's Happening in the Library?
Kindergarten
Kindergarten is focusing on non-fiction texts and reading the Washington Children's Choice non-fiction nominees.
1st Grade
1st grade is reading Trickster Tales from around the World! We have read a folktale featuring a trickster character from Asia, Africa, South America and North America so far and will travel to Europe and Australia next! We will also be trying our hand at coding for the Hour of Code.
2nd Grade
2nd grade had an intro lesson on Digital Citizenship. We are learning how to log into Destiny Quest so that we can put a book on hold, add books to our list and recommend books to our friends!
3rd Grade
We finished our first Otter Award book, Zoey and Sassafras and are excited to start our next one... Catstronauts! 3rd grade did an intro lesson on Digital Citizenship and we discussed private vs. personal information when sharing something online. We are looking forward to doing the Hour of Code in December.
4th Grade
We are continuing our read aloud Crimebiters! . We had two digital citizenship lessons on plagiarism and being kind online. Students used Flipgrid to share their voice and practice being kind when commenting on each others videos. We are looking forward to doing the Hour of Code in December.
5th Grade
5th Grade had a lesson on note taking and writing citations in preparation for the Battle of the Books. We are starting our second week of reading through the Washington Children's Choice picture book nominees and taking notes on them. Each table group will then battle it out to see who can answer the most questions correctly using Plickers.
Library Home Page
The Endeavour Library Home page is separate from my Connect page and is a really useful website for you and your students. The "home" tab has useful links like the databases paid for by the district and links to websites students use regularly in library. The "catalog" tab is where you or students can search for books in the Endeavour library. Please feel free to bookmark it on your classroom computers :)
