Testing Next Week
I-Read in Grades 2 and 3 March 4-8
Indiana requires all grade 3 students to participate in IREAD-3. It is recommended from the state of Indiana that students who do not pass this exam repeat 3rd grade. If students do not pass this exam, we continue to offer intervention groups while at school. Students are then requested to complete summer school during the beginning of June and re-test in June. If a grade 3 student does not pass the spring or the June testing opportunity, we will discuss retention possibilities this summer.
Indiana allows grade 2 students the opportunity to participate in IREAD-3. This test is just a practice opportunity for 2nd grade students to determine where they are currently. Think of it like a practice test for next year when they are 3rd graders. If a students pass the exam they would be exempt for taking it again as a 3rd grader. If a 2nd grader does not pass the exam, we will continue to offer intervention groups while at school and allow students to participate in summer school if they are interested. Grade 2 students will not retest in June. We will use this data to guide instruction as they enter third grade.
