How it began
The Transcontinental railroad was as long as 1,907 miles which is 3,069 kilimeters. This railroad was built between 1863 to 1869. The Transcontinental Railroad was built across the United states to connect to the Pacific coast.

The Transcontinental Railroad had a attachment to Abe Lincoln. This railroad was so important to this president because it was one of his biggest goals. A sad part of this goal is that the Transcontinental railroad was completed four years after Abe died.
