The 24th annual Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger® Food Drive

Join us for the 24th annual Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger® Food Drive! Did you know that the food you donate comes to Family Sharing? This food drive provides much-needed food in time for spring/summer when we see increased demands for our services. Please be sure to leave food for your carrier to pick up.

Want to help us sort and organize the donations? We would love for you to bring your friends, family, and neighbors with you to help us!

We have sorting parties this Saturday and from 5:30-7pm on Monday 5/23 and Wednesday 5/25. Grab some dinner after work then come lend a hand...there's no better feeling than helping others so don't wait! Sign up today!

Hello from Julie...

Four months have certainly flown by. It's been a joy to join the Family Sharing team and I'm excited about all that is happening here.

Every day I'm impressed by the commitment and hard work of the staff and volunteers here. They move mountains...literally! Mountains of food, mountains of donated items - in support of our mission and to support our neighbors in need.

We are eagerly anticipating the Postal Food Drive this weekend. It takes planning and preparation ahead of time and work for weeks afterward - it's truly a team effort. The community's support is crucial to our success as a service organization. During April's Board meeting we were discussing our mission and plans to ensure that we continue to serve this community well. As we were brainstorming, Frank Oetlinger piped in with, "We are FOR OZAUKEE, FROM OZAUKEE." Everyone stopped, took that statement in for a second and enthusiastically agreed - yes! That encapsulates what fuels Family Sharing. Our mission is simple, but not easy: To alleviate hunger in Ozaukee County with dignity and compassion. The only way that we can reduce the growing issue of hunger is through the compassionate support that this community continually offers us. And it's awe inspiring to see how many ways our neighbors do just that.

This newsletter celebrates some of the ways that people contributed in the last few weeks and highlights some of the ways we will receive support in the upcoming weeks (including a way to triple your donation). My hope is that you find it valuable, informative and that it helps you feel connected to the Family Sharing of Ozaukee community as we work hard to be for Ozaukee, from Ozaukee.

Please feel free to contact me directly - I would love to meet with you and hear from you. 262-377-0634 or

Warm regards, Julie Hoover

Celebrating Our Incredible Community Supporters

Volunteers of Oz: Excellence in Volunteering

As part of Volunteer Appreciation month, the Volunteer Center of Ozaukee County held their annual dinner celebration on April 13. The theme was the Wizard of Oz (get it? Oz/Ozaukee? so clever!) The Cedarburg Cultural Center was bedecked in Oz-themed decorations...poppies, Emerald City table displays, DingDongs custom made by Sweet Trio complete with the bad witch underneath...amazing!

65 members of the Family Sharing team attended. We were all dressed in gray/silver, with big red hearts and tin woodsman hats. It was impossible not to notice that Family Sharing was there in force!

Marvin, who never ever gives less than 150%, was ALL silver face/body paint, silver duct taped shoes and a real tin hat tied on his head. Thanks for setting the tone Marvin! Unfortunately the costume contest was swept by a group of adorable 5th and 6th grade girls and their mother who was dressed as a tornado (very creative!).

We love our volunteers so much and can't think of a better group of people we want to celebrate! Tin hats off to our volunteers; you make every day a great day!

Painting the Pantry with Mark Travel

Thank you to the Mark Travel volunteers for painting the pantry waiting area and 2 offices! Our pantry looks great and we love it! This was their first-ever service project event. We couldn't have done it without you, thanks for brightening our day and our walls!

Dan from Sherwin Williams and our friend Samantha lent a hand. They were incredibly generous and hard working!

There is a new layout in that room, along with the new paint. If you haven't seen it yet and want a tour and an understanding of the new layout - just ask Robin or Julie.

Thiensville-Mequon Lions Club

Family Sharing is proud to be supported by the wonderful Thiensville-Mequon Lions during their amazing Parade of Checks last month. Ozaukee County is incredibly fortunate to have these fine people nearby! They work hard year-round to raise money for local charities and give new meaning to the phrase 'the heart of a lion'.

United Way of Northern Ozaukee

Thank you UWNO for making us part of this year's giving! We are honored to be awarded with a United Way of Northern Ozaukee grant.

The support of UWNO will provide food for more than 6 weeks of this year.

A. O. Smith Corporation

We want to give a big shout out to A. O. Smith Corporation for donating a brand new water heater. It will help us daily for years to come. Thank you!

Meijer Simply Give Campaign

Get ready to shop Meijer and help Family Sharing! Between May 8th and June 19th we will be the recipient of all Simply Give donations from our local Grafton Meijer store. Purchase a $10 Simply Give card and fight hunger!
