Field Day Update
MISD Board Votes to Modify Mask Mandate
On Thursday, May 13, our Board of Trustees held a special meeting to discuss several agenda items. During this meeting, the Board took action to lift the current mask mandate for all staff and students to a mask recommended protocol effective Monday, May 17 for all school buildings and school buses. This change is to provide parents and staff a choice to wear masks for the remainder of this school year.
Additionally, the Board included the removal of all plexiglass used for COVID mitigation. With this modification in mask protocols, the district will continue to follow current contact tracing and quarantine protocols. The district will also continue to follow social distancing where feasible along with cleaning of the classrooms, buildings and busses at the beginning and end of the school day.

Previously Shared Information
Below are the treats we have in store for our staff next week. Thank you, PTO, for partnering with us!
Typically, we only test 2 grade levels at a time, but because of changes to the state testing calendar, we are testing all 3! This change will require us to pull additional staff from K, 1, 2 to help administer the tests in one of our 35 testing rooms. Just know that while these days will look different, we will continue to take great care of all of our learners.
STAAR Tests (Cont)
Re: STAAR Testing
April 30, 2021
Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students will take the STAAR tests soon, and we cannot wait for our students to show us what they know!
When are the students testing, and what are they taking?
Tuesday, May 11 – 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade (Math)
Wednesday, May 12 - 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade (Reading)
Thursday, May 13 - 5th Grade (Science)
What can you do to help?
Reschedule any appointments that will require your child to be absent or leave during the school day.
Ensure your child gets plenty of sleep!
Feed your child a good, healthy breakfast.
Guarantee your child’s prompt arrival at school.
Encourage your child to do his/her best!
What else do you need to know?
Students will not have snacks during testing. Breakfast is important!
Testing may last up to 4 hours. The tests are designed for most students to finish within 2 hours.
Please remind your child that these tests are only 2-3 days of his/her school year. While we want our students to do their best (because they can and are ready), the results are not the only indication of how much they have learned this school year! Don’t forget to celebrate your child’s successes when he/she completes these tests!
If you have any questions, please let me know, or ask your child’s teacher.

5th Grade Celebration
On May 25, LME families are encouraged to join our arrival/dismissal line at 8:00am. The gate will be closed until our 5th graders get situated on the perimeter of the playground. Once the gate opens, LME families will drive the loop and make some noise for our learners!
We must stay in our vehicles for the duration of this event. Vehicles may not stop but should "slow roll" through the back drive.
We would love our virtual learners and their families to drive through as well!
Looking forward to seeing you on May 25!
The times are weird because Mrs. Wendel and Ms. West want to celebrate with each of you!
