Remote Learning Live RollOut Announcement
Hello!
CMES staff and administration have continued to research, collaborate and problem solve all week on how to meet the instructional needs of our students. While it has been a challenge it is no surprise to me the outstanding work our teachers continue to do to rise to this challenge.
We have heard feedback from you and overall our soft roll out this past week was a success. Please continue to let your child’s teacher or administration know how we are doing. We are all in this together!
So this coming week’s instruction will be NEW instruction. Your teachers are working hard to come up with multiple ways to approach new instruction remotely. Please reach out to your child’s teacher if your child is struggling. Or if there is too much or too little to keep up with. We are prepared to adapt and personalize as again I want to reiterate that we are doing our best to continue learning but we also want to respect and acknowledge your child’s physical and mental health.
On Monday, April 6th by 9:00 am you will receive new instruction from your child’s teacher via email or you can check our communication hub. The link is in the description below. There you will find your child’s assignments and activities to complete over the course of the week.
I would like to emphasize we appreciate those of you who over spring break when this became our new reality for picking up educational workbooks for your child. We know you value your child’s education as do we. One of the reasons CMES is so successful is parent support. We would appreciate and expect that your child now completes the work given by their teacher beginning on April 6th and then if they are a real go-getter they could complete the activities you would like for them to do in addition as an enrichment opportunity.
A focus on keeping children emotionally and physically safe, fed, and engaged in learning should be our first priority during this unprecedented time. We have determined as an elementary that we will be giving feedback but will not give grades at this point. We will be giving your child feedback on their progress not just in a grade format. See below for our current feedback guidelines.
For those students without the internet based on the information gleaned from our teachers reaching out individually to their homerooms: Our plan for this week of April 6th. There will be a pick-up opportunity of needed materials on Wednesday. More information to come.
Creating a schedule and designated learning place will help your child adapt to their new learning environment. Some examples below.
Tomorrow Saturday, April 4th, if your child is in grades 3-5 you may pick up a computer in front of the middle school from 8-12.
Last but not least we appreciate you working with us to maintain our children’s education. Thank-you!

CMES Building Leadership’s Current Guidelines for Remote Learning Feedback:
Essential Grading Recommendations • The emphasis for schoolwork assigned, reviewed, and completed during the remote learning period is on learning, not on compliance • Grading should focus on the continuation of learning and prioritize the connectedness and care for students and staff. All students should have the opportunity to redo, make up, or try again to complete, show progress, or attempt to complete work assigned prior to the remote learning period in that time frame.
