I am excited to spotlight a couple of the great success stories from schools in NEMO and the
recent National FFA Convention provided plenty of success stories to pick from! Just going to a state or national convention is a great experience so I congratulation the students, instructors, and schools for the great work you are doing. If you have a success story you would like me to share, please send it my way.
Thank for your hard work and dedication to students success!

CAREER PATHWAYS: SHAPING MISSOURI'S FUTURE webinar
DECEMBER 16, 2021 from 9-10 a.m.
CAREER CLUSTER: MANUFACTURING
REGISTER HERE: http://t.ly/ZZJ5
Each bi-monthly webinar will focus on a different career pathway, with the goal of providing valuable resources to counselors, teachers, and students. These webinars will feature often overlooked options in the cluster, rather than the most obvious. Each session features two Education Spotlights and two Industry Spotlights with videos and conversations with current students, recent graduates, and people working in the field. As time allows, we will have a live Q & A with the presenters for you and your students. However, if the time does not work with your schedule, each session will be recorded with a YouTube link provided to registrants. Check it out!
Our inaugural webinar on October 21st targeted optional careers and educational opportunities in Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources. The Spotlight presenters are from State Technical College, Sydenstricker Nobbe, Department of Natural Resources, and Bayer Crop Science. Here is the YouTube Link for this session: https://youtu.be/upvGO1iQL8I
Pathways for Teachers Programs
The Pathways for Teachers Programs include opportunities for educators to get out of the classroom to talk with employers, visit Career Centers and post-secondary training programs, and share ideas and develop curriculum they can take back to their students and share with co-workers. These experiences are incredibly valuable to increase awareness of diverse careers and the skills needed, so teachers are better able to prepare students for those opportunities in the future.
Your school can do this as a stand alone project or invite other schools to participate. SO...let me know if you have ideas for externships. I'll be happy to help you with the application process, which is not difficult. I then present the application and budget worksheet to the DESE approval committee. Applications can include stipends for non-contract days or sub reimbursement. I have hyperlinked the DESE webpage where more information can be found and I am happy to answer questions and help with this application process. https://dese.mo.gov/college-career-readiness/missouri-career-pathways
ICAP--INDIVIDUAL CAREER & ACADEMIC PLAN
The Individual Career & Academic Plan (ICAP), is a plan of study to guide students through the coursework and activities for achieving personal career goals, post-secondary planning and providing individual pathway options. An ICAP is a multi-year process, beginning no later than the eighth grade, that intentionally guides students and families in the exploration of career, academic and multiple post-secondary opportunities to include *direct access to the workforce *military *tech school/area career center *vocational training (apprenticeship), *2 year college and *4 year college. An ICAP is a “roadmap” to help students develop the awareness, knowledge, attitudes, and skills to create their own meaningful pathways to be success ready graduates.
MISSOURI CONNECTIONS includes an on-line ICAP. If you need training to set up accounts, upload courses, help students navigate the site, etc. check out the training schedule at MissouriConnections.org.
