Here's what's happening in MS this week!

Dear parents,
We are nearing the end of the fourth quarter. Please ask your students what exams they need to study for.
ENGLISH
6th Grade: On Tuesday, May 8th, students will take the English Language Arts M-Step, which we have competed practice testing in preparation for. Students will be finishing up their novels in the coming weeks. We are completing daily Thought Log activities that help students with their annotations, and will also help them on book questions and their assessment. All late work needs to be turned in by May 17th.
7th Grade: We have three more book club meetings left. Two this one and the last on Tuesday, May 14. At that time, students will begin individual projects that will count as their final exam. May 8th we will take the Language Arts M-Step. All missing assignments will need to be turned in by May 17.
8th Grade: We are wrapping up Soul Surfer and our unit on overcoming obstacles. All missing assignments will need to be turned in by May 17.
SOCIAL STUDIES
6th Grade: We are wrapping up our study of Ancient Rome. We will be reviewing main ideas and vocabulary the beginning of the week, then taking a test on Wednesday or Thursday.
7th Grade: We are wrapping up our study of Ancient Rome. We will be reviewing main ideas and vocabulary the beginning of the week, then taking a test on Thursday.
8th History: Students are finishing up an assessment project, a newspaper article that they wrote in the voice of someone from the pre-Civil War time period. This week, we will enter our unit on the Civil War. All late work must be in by May 17th.
MATH
6th Grade: We will practice online this week for the MStep which we will take during exams. The students took a test on Friday. Please check, make needed corrections and retake as soon as possible.
7th Grade: Students will practice online for the MStep this week. The MStep will be given during exams. We continue with our statistics chapter this work learning about random samples.
8th Grade: Students continue to focus on geometry this week. They took a quiz last week on missing angle measures.
SCIENCE
6th Grade: We will be reviewing and evaluating our roller coaster project from last week. We will also be discussing inertia and examining Newton’s laws of motion.
7th Grade: We will be watching Jurassic Park in the beginning of the week and attempting to separate fact from fiction. Students will be getting their Fossils and Geologic Time test back Monday and will have until Wednesday to turn in corrections. Our next unit will be about Space Science.
8th Grade: We have been studying weather patterns and how to create weather maps. They have also been working on a severe weather research project that is due Tuesday. The quiz on weather patterns is also on Tuesday.
