Ferdinand Magellan was a portuguese explorer he helped with the organisation of the spanish expedition.
Magellan became a skilled sailor and naval officer and was eventually selected by King Charles 1 of spain to search for a westward route to the Maluku islands. Commanding a fleet of five vessels, he headed south through the Atlantic Ocean to Patagonia, passing through the strait of Magellan into a body of water he named the.
He was the first person to circumnavigate the world, he also opened new triad routs.
He gave the Pacific ocean its name. He was considered a traitor by his home country.
His voyage was sparked by a treaty between Spain and Portugal. He dose not deserve all the credit for circumnavigating the world his crew did most of the work.
