MBK Connection
Interact. Engage. Impact.
September 16, 2015
Greetings!
Thank you for being involved with My Brother’s Keeper Houston (MBK Houston)! Since Mayor Annise Parker accepted President Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper Community Challenge on September 24, 2014, there has been an extensive amount of work that has been completed. Since the first convening at the Local Action Summit on November 13, 2014, the dedication and participation of individuals and organizations has been outstanding.
It is due to the time, effort, and energy of individuals and organizations such as yourself that we were able to develop a Local Action Plan within the 180 day timeline set out by the White House. After submitting the Local Action Plan, we were able to celebrate the work thus far at the Local Action Plan Launch on May 14, 2015 at the Houston Public Library’s Julia Ideson Building.
Whether you attended a meeting or expressed interest in the past, we want to invite you to read our newsletter, The Blueprint. This newsletter presents information about the progress of MBK Houston and spotlights a youth in the Houston community.
For those who are interested in getting involved, please contact Connie Foo, connie.foo@houstontx.gov.
