Staff Attendance
Sick Leave
When you are going to be absent, you must contact the principal by 6:30 a.m. on the day of the absence. If contact is made with the principal AFTER 6:30 a.m., the teacher must come in until a sub can get to the school (unless it is an emergency). Sick leave can ONLY be taken for doctor’s appointments or days you are sick, not for personal reasons like vacation.
Personal Leave
For the district to function efficiently and have the necessary personnel present to effect a high achieving learning environment, employee absences need to be kept to a minimum. Any employee desiring to take personal leave may do so by making a written request to the principal at least twenty-four hours prior to the time of the requested leave. The twenty-four hour requirement may be waived by the principal in cases of emergencies.
Personal leave may not be taken the day before or the day after a holiday. If a personal day is taken before or after a holiday, you will be docked for that day.
Required Forms
To request personal or school business days, you MUST complete the correct forms in the office. Those forms must be signed by the principal or assistant principal before a substitute will be called. Once you return to school, you must go to the office to sign the form that is sent to admin.
Planning Time
Faculty and staff are expected to be on campus at all times. In the event that you need to leave, you must contact the principal or assistant principal AND sign out in the office BEFORE you leave. When you return, you must write down the time of return.
District Policy on attendance can be found here.
Professional Growth Plan Conferences
Please go into your EdReflect account to update the goals in your PGP. EdReflect may be accessed by going to edreflect.com. You may need to check your spam inbox if you do not have your password. You should have identified two personal goals that you want to work on this year. Those of you that were here last year have already done this, but this is the time to make changes if you want to do so. You may feel that your previous goal has been met or needs to be different than what you previously thought. If you are new to the district, you will need to start this process. I have enabled the PGP for all staff in EdReflect. Ms. Adelowo and I will make personal contact with each of you to schedule your individual PGP conference.
You will also need to complete the self assessment and the goal planning form prior to your meeting time. Be prepared to meet next week unless other arrangements have already been made.
Observations
Observation and Feedback Cycle
All teachers will be part of the observation feedback cycle. The cycle consists of informal, unannounced observations followed by feedback (face-to-face and/or written). The people who will be conducting the observations will be the principal, assistant principal, and instructional facilitators. During the feedback session, we will facilitate the discussion through reflective questioning. The teacher should be doing the most speaking because this is each teacher’s chance to engage in professional reflective dialogue.

EXAMPLES of ARTIFACTS
Cell Phones
Instructional time is not to be interrupted to make or receive personal phone calls or post on any social media; however, it is permissible to make personal phone calls when not with students. We will all follow the meeting norm of “polite technology” during meetings, which means we will not use social media, text, or make phone calls while participating in meetings.
Email and Mailboxes
Please check each of these daily. You are expected to read and respond to your email in a timely manner. The excuses “I didn’t know” or "I didn't see it" will not be acceptable. Emergency messages will be brought to your rooms. Personal messages received at school will be forwarded using email.
Sex Trafficking PD
The Human Trafficking Arkansas Act 765 of 2017 professional development session is a requirement for all certified staff. If you were not in attendance for this PD on Friday, February 15th, then you must log on to the Arkansas IDEAS portal and complete the module. You must provide Mrs. Adelowo or Mrs. Walker with a copy of your certificate by the end of the day, Friday, March 8th.

Sign Out/Sign In
Each time you leave the building, you must SIGN OUT/IN in the office (no exceptions...includes going to admin or another school). Unless you have text/talked to Ms. Adelowo or I, you should not be leaving during your prep period. That time is to be used for collaboration with your peers and planning for your lessons. If there is something that you must leave to do, you must talk to us first. This is a safety issue. If we go in to a lockdown or have any other emergency, I have to know where everyone is at and not spend time looking for someone who isn't in the building.
