School Shirts are Here
Everyone should have their school t-shirt. We look forward to seeing everyone wear them on Mondays. Parents if you would like a shirt for field trips you can purchase your own for $15 in the office.
Parent/Teacher Conferences will be Oct. 23
Parent/Teacher Conferences will be Oct. 23. As the first quarter ends we want to take a few minutes to meet with parents and guardians about how your child is doing at this point in the year. In order to have more time to meet with you and other parents, we will not have regular classes on October 23. Instead parents will be able to schedule a time to meet with their child's teacher to discuss progress and how growth can be encouraged. Grade reports and MAP test results will be shared and discussed at this meeting.
KAES uses “SIGNUP GENIUS" to schedule parent/teacher meetings. A link to the online scheduling site “SIGNUP GENIUS” will be sent out Monday, October 16 after 4:00 pm for you to choose a meeting time with your child's teacher. Please remember that signups are available on a first come, first serve basis. You are to only sign up with your child's homeroom teacher. Meetings are limited to 15 minutes to make time for all parents. If you are unable to get a time that fits your schedule, please contact your child's teacher and request to meet some time that week after school. Teachers will do their best to accommodate parents after school.
Remember, parents of middle school will meet with their child's homeroom teacher. If you want to also meet with a subject area teacher, please feel free to contact them and request a meeting on a different day after school.
Picture Day
Our kids looked so nice as they took individual pictures and class pictures today. If you did not get a chance to order pictures, you still can. We have forms in the office.
Red Ribbon Week is just a week away. This is a fun way to celebrate being drug free. Look over each day and help your child celebrate each day.
Handwashing fun
Students had a great time learning about why we should wash our hands. They also learned all about the viruses, parasites and germs that transfer to our bodies when we do not clean our hands thoroughly. Thank you Prospera for making learning so fun.
What do you do when faced with a challenge
This month 7th graders have been studying various stories themed about overcoming difficult circumstances with determination. Each group faced a culminating activity and “breakout” of a number of challenges designed to encourage a growth mindset and test their determination.
The 6th grade Greek Olympics
After much studying this quarter about Greeks and ancient times, the 6th grade participated in a culminating event focused on some of the activities held during the time of the Greek Olympics.
The Young Peacemaker - Week 6
I have included an outline of what was discussed and taught this week. My hope is that this can benefit your family at home just as much as at school. Remember your child should already be familiar with these ideas.
“So whether you eat or drink whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God” (1 Cor. 10:31).
(The big Idea) Conflict is an opportunity.
(The main points)
- Glorify God in conflict. Trust God to carry out his plan. Obey God's commands found in the Bible. Imitate God's character, which is loving, kind, patient, and forgiving.
- Serve other people during conflict. Love your enemies. Do good to those who hate you. Bless those who curse you. Pray or those who mistreat you (Luke 6:26-27)
- Grow to be more like Christ through conflict. Recognize your need for God. Confess your sins and receive forgiveness from God. Seek forgiveness from those you have offended. Practice new habits regarding what you think, what you say, and what you do.
